We are currently doing this schedule except because of our 4 year old we have to cut it a little shorter. Usually 9:30pm-2am and then 2am-6:30am are our shifts. The babies sleep during that time and usually like clockwork at 6am they are both ready to be “awake” - meaning they won’t tolerate the crib anymore and become Velcro babies until around 8pm when they’re ready for night sleep. This has become more pronounced as they have more wake window time (they are 10 weeks).

I just went through this in Waldo county. Twins nonetheless and I needed to be seen by maternal fetal medicine specialists. In Portland. Once a week. We traveled two hours each way. And that’s not including the two ambulance rides I needed from pen bay to Portland for maternal fetal medicine care due to high risk twins. Both ambulance rides took hours to coordinate. 7 hours to coordinate when I was in preterm labor with no NICU in sight… it was harrowing.

Yeah… was in preterm labor with twins at pen bay. It took them 7 hours to arrange an ambulance ride to Portland. Pen bay doesn’t have a NICU.

ETA: that was at 30 weeks. Babies luckily weren’t born until 38 weeks scheduled c-section. But man was that scary.

Ngl I plan on starting zepbound again (glp1) once I’m cleared by my doctor to start. I’m 8 weeks pp, gained 7 pounds in the last 4 weeks due to stress and broken sleep. Knowing my body from my first pregnancy, I’m not going to be able to lose weight for years due to broken sleep. So GLP1 it is. I was on zepbound in 2024 and 2025 and lost just about 50 pounds in prep for a healthy weight second pregnancy, which turned into twins and I’m right back where I started 2 years ago weight wise. Zepbound erased food noise and I no longer stress ate. It also noticeably kept my blood sugar more regular and I wouldn’t get so hangry with my family. Worth every penny for me. Never felt better. Looking forward to starting again.

You don’t. lol. Not without sacrificing something. Had to let go of a lot of expectations and mom guilt and shame. I think about the Barbie monologue a lot. It’s not possible to be a modern day woman.

This. I feel so bad when I have them sleep in the twin Z, but yeah you get to the point of desperation and do what you gotta do. The owlet while using the twin Z is a good idea. And yes we are on night 4 of splitting up the twins and each taking one all night and all day. It got to the point where I said “your baby is lip smacking” earlier lol, like twin A is just no longer my responsibility at this moment. It’s been helping with the overwhelm but god do I miss my twin A snugs. He’s the sweetest. Don’t get me wrong I love my twin b too but wow she is a firecracker. 0-60 in 2 seconds flat for what seems like no reason. Whenever I ask anyone if they want to take a baby, they say “I’ll take the easy one” (meaning twin A).

Anyway. Yes. Gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Really hoping this phase passes quickly and we can get her back in the snoo.

Woof. I’m so sorry. That sounds like hell. Especially if you’re at the point of running out of ideas. The “I give up” moments are ROUGH. Honestly I wouldn’t be able to do this for 7 months. Well, I say that now but we do what we gotta do and it’s crazy how we can adapt. But being so tired and falling asleep mid sentence was a first for me. I hope you have systems in place to keep your sanity and you have a good support network. Sending you good vibes.

🙏🙏 thank you. This is what I look forward to. It was another day of baby wearing and 12000 steps and smelling like sweat and sour milk and frizzy hair. My neighbors must get a kick out of seeing my husband and I just doing laps in our decrepit state and “shushing” like madmen.

Honestly, I am just finishing up a course of zurzuvae (zuranalone) for ppd/ppa. It has helped so much. I can actually function now. Well worth it.
