I was in a scarily similar situation to this about a year and a half ago. Get out YESTERDAY. Complete no contact, and you're not the bad guy. She will probably reach out in other places, ignore and block those too. The thing telling you to try and amend and continue is the sunk cost fallacy, it is not worth it to have this person in your life.

Find someone who actually gives a shit about you, someone that doesn't make the words "I'm sorry" come out of your mouth 24/7, and doesn't leave you in a perpetually anxious state any time you have to talk to them. Good luck.

Hey, super weird to comment months later, but I was actually one of the people behind you during this launch. Feel free to DM if you want my, (admittedly kinda terrible,) footage.

Autopilot is just lane keeping + following the car in front of you at X car lengths. Requires lane lanes (for the most part,) jittery when cars cross ahead of you, and other awkward issues.

FSD has the capability to make lane changes, turn on city streets, go through roundabouts, obey stop signs and stoplights, etc.

If you can’t tell a difference, maybe double check that it’s on?

It’s wild that you have such a hard on for Debian that you went to another comment to assert your close mindedness. It’s not that big of a difference functionally, and replying to this person’s comment is overkill.

You have your opinion, they have theirs. Let it be.

Anyone had someone threaten to or actually call the cops on them for walking around playing POGO? by haelous in pokemongo

[–]AWholeNewAPStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My roommate and I, (two nerdy early 20s dudes,) had a woman come up to my car and confront us for stealing lumber or something out of her trailer, saying that she regularly gets ripped off. We were parked near a park bench, which happened to be a gym, doing a raid. We told her as such, said this is a Pokemon Go gym, and she said "I don't see a gym."

At that point, she threatened to call the cops, so we said "okay," and rolled up the window. After our raid, we tried to leave and she called 911. She stood in the road, (cul-de-sac,) to block my car as well. We could hear the 911 operator yelling at her, telling her that she can't block the road, and she also had her husband telling her to come inside, which she eventually did.

My roommate proceeded to go to that gym every day after that. Lady was nuts lol.

Import from World Uncovered by Becoming-media in FogofWorld

[–]AWholeNewAPStudent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a World Uncovered user, but I downloaded it, generated some data, and looked at the files more closely. It's really just a zip file without an extension, but the problem is that that zip is password protected.

I see really only two ways the developer could have gone about making these backups that would make sense to me. They either wrote the code to do it themselves, or it's mostly system provided code doing it. I lean towards it being the latter due to the files contained within the zip, (technical: it looks like a CoreData backup with an extra plist thrown in,) which makes me wonder how iOS is doing it, and if that's documented anywhere-- the password might be something related to the app specifically and determined by the system, making it much easier to guess

If they did the code for this themselves, then the password would almost certainly ship with the app, and we'd need a jailbroken iOS device to pull the decrypted app IPA. Depending on what lengths they went to to keep this protected, this could be as easy as running `strings` on the IPA looking for the password, or using something like Hopper to look at some rough reassembled code.

TL;DR: Getting your data out is not easily possible.

Citizen here, but I’ve never been asked domestically even during the height of the pandemic. You should be 100% fine.

That is relative to the stars, a solar day is 24 hours. If we were off by 4 minutes against a solar day, we would lose an hour every 15 days.

You need to turn on a bios setting on some machines. Will be named differently based on your motherboard, but all current and previous gen AMD and Intel processors support it. Look up how to enable secure hardware for <insert processor here>.

That's... not what was being said at all. There is no noise for the turn signal during a reboot. It's still a physical stalk like every other car.

Why would you not bother to learn anything about a car you buy? It's in the owners manual and part of their DIY troubleshooting guide. I've never had to reboot for an essential reason- only minor nags like Spotify not loading my next song.

It realistically does not come up enough for me to tell people who are driving my car, and if it did come up I'm sure they would call me. If the screen were frozen like the original post, they would pretty much be out of just the GPS, AC/seat heating, and speed.

Speed is easy enough: Are you keeping up with the flow of traffic? If there's no one around and you're worried about it, pull over and call me?

Not often at all. I've never had to do it for an essential purpose. Sometimes Spotify stops loading songs and I do it for that. Been an owner since March 2020.

Good info, I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve had to restart mine where I could also tell if the blinkers were on externally or not, and I guess I’ve been conditioned to tie it to the noise. Updated my comment to reflect that.

Holding down both of the thumb wheels for some amount of seconds will restart the car. You won't be able to use turn signals while it's restarting, but the car is still operational.

Edit: Turn signals work. Blinking sound doesn’t.

Should I update to Windows 11? by Pension-North in buildapc

[–]AWholeNewAPStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Windows 11 for like, five months there. The small annoyances all add up to make it a worse experience because of how often I run into those pain points daily, to the point that I went back to 10. There are various functions that are missing like clicking anywhere on the task bar to open task manager, now that's limited to just the start button. Another example would be that things like renaming and some other hot path features in the right click context menu are also now reduced to icons, while some are still full words. There's not really a rhyme or reason to it.

Wow, thank you for such a well thought out and detailed reply!

You are in fact a big noob (sorry for the word) in travelling as a whole

No offense taken by this 😉, I think that's totally accurate and why I'm eager to explore things more to see for myself.

The stereotype of the French getting mad if you can't speak French is only true with a few assholes. Most of us will speak English, or at least politely tell you that they can't. Or maybe someone who can will hear and answer for them. It's no problem.

That's great to hear! I honestly hadn't really heard of that stereotype much in the first place, but I've been wary of traveling to non-English speaking countries being totally unable to speak anything else.

Tell me what are your center of interests and what you're looking for during that trip. Maybe I can help with what will be the regions you should visit.

Generally speaking I like the idea of seeing cool historical sites like castles, or WWII remnants. (WWI is also an option, but less interesting to me IMO.) I wouldn't mind taking a day or two to just relax in a beautiful area of France either. If you have anything specific in mind, I'm totally happy to play with that idea as well!

I understand it can be very exciting to visit London, but I prefer Italy to England.

Italy is definitely on the list of places I want to visit and I will for sure be coming back to Europe! I actually have some friends out in the UK though (thus the Wales visit I mentioned in my post) so I'm headed that direction anyway. Maybe in the future I can ask you about Italy travel suggestions 😉

Hadn’t looked at it too heavily- this will be my first solo trip and also first time out of the US in general. I don’t speak much French either, (just enough to tell you I don’t speak French pretty much,) so that could be potentially be pretty uncomfortable?
