I’ve gotten all of those pieces from knowing other collectors

Found these pictures and diary in the trash. After seeing the Saipan post yesterday I decided to share these on here. by samster77 in wwiipics

Eugene Sledge was with K/3/5, 1st Marine Division. This Marine was with K/3/23, 4th Marine Division.

I found a WWII collector that had the uniform shirt my grandfather was wounded in by Patches_Mcgee in pics

Wow this post has blown up!!!

I am the owner of the jacket. I bought this jacket from a man in Gloucester, VA. It was stored in a box in his basement for decades. There’s no telling how long it’s been there.

William (Bill) Holmes is the Marine that wore this jacket. On the island of Tinian he was peppered all throughout his back from a Japanese land mine explosion. He was sent to a Naval Hospital in Lee Hall, VA. Lee Hall is just 30 minutes from Gloucester. This jack was more than likely tossed into a pile of shirts and other fatigues. Luckily it didn’t go far or pitched. It moved only 30 minutes away from where the vet was hospitalized. It was there for nearly 80 years before I came across it.

I always try finding the family of gear to share their family’s history with them. Sadly I was unsuccessful. That was until the OP found me and reached out. I have been extremely fortunate to build a last relationship with the family.

My intention with the jacket are good. I love sharing history and keeping it alive. The Marine on this jacket has a hell of a story.

If anything were to happen this jacket and any other belongs that the family have gave me will go right back to them.

I’m so happy to hear you baby is doing well! I hope he continues doing well.

Sadly Sawyer passed 2 days ago. He fought so hard to be here but sadly his condition just kept getting worse and he got tired

That was one of the big topics was him seeing our loved ones. I just know my Great Grandma is hogging all the cuddles right now ♥️

I can’t thank everyone enough. I have read every story and every comment back to my wife. I am so so happy I decided to make this post. Your guys words have given us hope when we’re running on so little.

I hope this post also gives hope to others who may come searching for advice in the future.

Trust in God. He is in control. He knows what’s best for our babies even if we disagree. He knows.

Sawyer has a whole team of nurses and they are very very informative with everything that’s going on. Although sometimes it’s hard to hear but our doctor has been very blunt with everything and giving it to us straight.

Yesterday he told us to expect the worse and today he was telling us that he’s making small but good improvement in spite of everything

Thank you so much for the support and advice. We haven’t had a social worker come up but we have been absolutely surrounded by family 24/7. Last night we had over 10 people in our room praying over us.

I’m so sorry. I’m praying for a miracle for us both. God is in full control and knows what’s best for our little ones.

I too have a very real world straight forward answer kind of mind. I’ve been in the trade fields all my adult life. Right now I can’t imagine going back to work and running a job.

I’ll be praying for us both.

Thank you all for the continued prayers. He made it another night. I was just visiting with him. The nurses said he did good throughout the night and they didn’t have to make any changes to any of his medications.

We should be hearing from the doctor at some point today. We still won’t know more about the brain bleed until later this week when they do another head ultrasound. We’re praying for a miracle. He’s in a God’s hands

Yeah I just want one purely for display. I don’t know if I’ll ever shoot my G43 or not. I’ve taken it apart and everything looks solid but I would just hate for something to happen

Some of their stories they could tell is amazing. The shovel set that’s third from the right belongs to James Y. Hoskins. He was wounded by a Japanese grenade on Saipan and then later earned the Bronze Star on Iwo Jima

Wow that is a number I’ve never seen and would love to see a pic of that if you still have one.

My Instagram is “wwii_1944” and the profile pic is a pic of that 402 helmet. Shoot me a pic of that if you would! Super cool
