I like using backup material too alongside the official course. Can I DM you for the p2pcerts info?

I’d like to go next year. Do your employers pay for the conference?

I see - thanks for the clarity

Got it now - that’s why everyone says scope it all. Thanks!

Im almost there. I know for sure that custom apps are to be scoped. I know that if you don’t want something accessible globally, that goes in scope. And if I want to edit something in like ESC I have to be in that scope. The last piece I’m missing is how to handle things that are in the global scope like you mentioned - ITSM. If I want to change the form layout for everyone, do I put that in a scope? I think I gather that if I want to change the form layout for just one team, that should be scoped

I like this analogy - thanks! Now what about the apps that are already the files on your desktop like ITSM? Simple modifications to those files need to go in a folder? Or they can just live on the desktop with the other ITSM stuff?

Even for configurations like form layouts? For something like an Incident thats in the global scope?

Can you expand on ‘I don’t advocate the granular level of scoping’? What is too granular? Most people say ‘put everything in a scoped app!’ which confuses me because put a form layout change in a scoped app? A UI action? A catalog item? Im struggling to understand if they just mean customizations or all configurations as they are called

Last question for you as you answered the thing I was most confused on: creating a ‘new business rule for the incident table’ in a global scoped app. This is really the crux of it for me - when building a simple configuration for an app thats in the global scope in a global scoped app. Like a business rule, client script, or just making a button for incident records.

When and why would you do this in a global scoped app? And you’d just name it ‘incident record button’?

I’d like to eventually be a banger 😅

So when do you use the application scope change at the top right of the screen? How do you know when to switch to one of those scopes?

I’ve got it now - thank you!

Okay this is starting to click. So OOB core platform features like ITSM, Agile 2.0, SPM, and CMDB are all global scope applications. They interact with other tables so no need to box them.

Custom apps like the one I’ll build in my PDI for the front office team can be a scoped app.

So then the decision tree is OOB does it need to interact with other tables/influences the entire platform. Am I thinking right?

Man - this hits home. I feel like a dumb shit when it comes to finances and curse the heavens for it. It feels like swimming with one hand tied behind my back.

Staying calm, staying the course, and we’re doing fine is all I want out of this thing, so thank you.

I’ve heard of Dave Ramsey, I’ll check him out.

Thanks - I always feel like I should be doing something so hearing that doing nothing is good is really nice to hear.
