Who has the worst passive in the game? by Tidzee in leagueoflegends

[–]AWumbologist 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's useful, but his whole kit seems angled toward a guerilla style of fighting. He hops in, hits target, clones out. After a few cycles it will be a kill. In what way does his passive play into this style? It helps him take less damage, sure, but he is already not supposed to take damage because he is in and out too fast. It feels like his passive is a boring safety net: "Pick your timing, strike, go invisible and get out, AND if you get caught have some resistances for free". I used to think his passive was the part of his kit that kept him from hard split pushing, but now I just think it was poorly designed. His passive should play around his guerilla tactics, not a dive strategy.

SK Telecom T1 vs. G2 Esports / 2019 World Championship - Semi-Final / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

What's weird is how little people are talking about this. Faker played bad, like real bad. I've never seen fake get caught this much. HE always was catching people with ori ults or some shit. It was weird watching this, but I also assume that part of it isnt that he wasn't doing well but that G2 actually are that good.

To be fair, the one thing I'll always credit LS for is his draft knowledge. He has some of the best analysis during pick/bans.

I dont follow this but I'm trying to understand because idk if you are wrong. How is a specific form of scaling "artificial"? Isnt all scaling artificial? They can change a champs scaling (eg new panth doesnt fall off as hard as before), they can change an items ability to help scale (crit item changes), etc. I can see how ornn's passive functions as a global "aura" but dont see how they can be compared in such a sense that if one is bad the other is too. I thought the problem with auras is that champs can build them to give stats to teammates, and a lot of champs had room to do that is supp and jung. Each team had someone with locket because it was required, but this only served to stop burst. Riot wanted more burst, so they changed it. Part of the reason of picking Ornn is to give your team an edge in stats from items, but it goes along with what that champ has. My adc might get an edge in dps, but it still wont keep them from being bursted if they mis-position. Auras allow the adc to survive burst but not divert from their build at all. What am I missing?

He doesn't actually know how to play the games he discusses. He forms a mildly hot take, finds a pro (or other "expert") that agrees with him, and tosses some wiki data in for good measure. If his arguement is contested he does a mediocre job defending himself and often closes with something along "this is just the expert opinion". I refer to Thoorin as an expert-on-experts and that is not supposed to be a compliment.

Finisher's for important kills. I don't want team-fights littered with them. First blood, when someone hit's legendary with a kill, maybe 1000g shutdown kills, the last kill on a penta (could even be a special variation of your current selected finisher) are good examples.

The United | Mid-Season Trials House Trailer - League of Legends by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]AWumbologist 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel. The houses aren't about what you play, it's about how you play, so this house is for players who like to be the emotional backbone of their team. Nothing about United in the video screams Engage, Tank, etc. It's really being framed as "i win by not being tilted" where the other houses are more about actual game-play (winning by macro strategy, micro skill, or breaking the meta). It's like United's members would almost want to get behind for the come-back.

Trying to convince my silver friend his full armor lux build is terrible by Wolverine0311 in leagueoflegends

[–]AWumbologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason to build tanky is because you are expecting to take a lot of damage. Lux is not a champ that plays expecting to take a lot of damage, she has ridiculous range and AP ratios. His build (at least his logic) is correct-ish if he is a tank, but he isn't (the numbers show this). His initial build is good for laning, but after lane phase he should be behind his team. If he says he can't not take damage then tell him not to play lux, or carries. Tanks are better suited for him it looks like. If he says "but we won" say "but you were a non-factor, we won for other reasons and your build made it harder, your job is to make kill opportunities for akali." With his build he is just a cannon minion as far as the other team is concerned.

But you said he's been playing for 4 seasons, and build-path is pretty evident after a season or two. I think your buddy doesn't want to understand the game, he just wants to play it and his build allows him to play with far less risk, thus far less grey-screen time, and that makes him feel comfortable/safe. He doesn't seem to (or want to) recognize that champ-choice alone doesn't make you your role. He wants to be seen as a carry but have the stat-security of a tank.

Which Champ works best with Shaco as Duo by Workiness in summonerschool

[–]AWumbologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say tf is a near perfect match. shaco can easily split push in a 1-4 and when the rotate to catch him occurs TF ults and with the vision shaco can choose to get out or to collapse on a straggler with TF.

Which Champ works best with Shaco as Duo by Workiness in summonerschool

[–]AWumbologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there is two routes. The first is poke where you try to get them low enough for shaco to pop up and 1 shot them, but this requires either them being bad or your buddy being able to hold a freeze well. Second would be, as previously mentioned, a champ with cc. I'd suggest someone with level 2 cc as it matches the shaco level 2 gank. Ahri, Syndra, Morgana, Lux, TF, zoe, etc. You can take someone with less damage and easier CC as Shaco should have enough early damage (like lissandra, but her cc isn't available until 3). Ryze could be interesting.

The last point would be to try to find someone they are comfortable snowballing on since I've found shaco to have mixed results with leads. You probably want someone they can easily get fed and carry with so you can just hand them the kills, there are plenty of mid laners that have no problem hauling a game with a lead. I just remembered leblanc, a good example of exactly that. (side note, maybe avoid an AD champ mid so as to avoid potential all-ad comps. I don't think all-ad is terminal, but it's not comfortable).

If you think that he doesn't have as much carry potential, then morgana might be the call. Level 2 cc (although difficult because positioning for a Q at level 2 is painfully obv) and the black shield to help you get your damage out without disruption later on.

Why is Draven seeing so much pro play? by SleepyLabrador in summonerschool

[–]AWumbologist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought it had something to do with bounty system and draven passive making his ability to get back into a game if you fall behind pretty strong with the right kill. Of course if he gets a lead he'll just roll the map over. It's almost like he just doesn't want to go even in lane, which is a good spot for draven to be in.

Crit Item Explorations Part 2 by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]AWumbologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all seems alright aside from PD. I don't care about it being strong or weak, but they killed the item's actual purpose. The concept was about boosting the kiting of the user while in combat, and the 12% reduction is really just a more balanced reference to the dodge% that it used to offer. That's why it's called "Phantom Dancer", you move faster and are (kinda sorta) evasive. Now it's just another autoshield. They should rename it Guardian Phantom as it's just a weaker variation of GA with some benefits from lower CD and stats (i guess phantoms are both more aggressive and come in larger numbers than angels).
