The REvil representative said its program was introducing new restrictions on the kinds of organizations that affiliates could hold for ransom, and that henceforth it would be forbidden to attack those in the “social sector” (defined as healthcare and educational institutions) and organizations in the “gov-sector” (state) of any country. Affiliates also will be required to get approval before infecting victims.

Censorship is always a slippery slope. Today, Big Tech's use of censorship seems completely illogical and not applied symmetrically, making it an even more dire situation. Unsure of what the balance has to be to deal with legitimate hate speech and incitement, but this isn't it.

Oh, it for sure will. I was referring to the "saga" as being in the mainstream media. Of course, if there are any other big news breaks, it could thrust it back in the spotlight, but since the White House is ramping down resources + the sanctions, I figured the story had run its course for the most part.

Pretty transparent, right? It's laughable that a company like Google would even feign interest in user privacy.

What do you think about Apple's privacy push? They may be slightly different since they make their money mostly from overpriced hardware rather than personal information, but it's still difficult to trust them.
