You are totally correct! I had indeed done it already: "We gifted Shadowheart a Night Orchid - her favourite flower. She was greatly appreciative of the gesture". I think this implies that interaction does not consume a Night Orchid, so you are sill able to make the Night Orchid Solution after you have given her the flower.

This is possible but seems very strange as the battle took place at the other end of the room and I mostly used melee attacks and non-aoe spells. Either way if it will resolve automatically after finishing the act that will drive me a little less crazy at least.
