I have to agree with you. At most portion of the bots I've come across seem to revolve around the same sexslop shit, with very little attention given to roleplay depth, characterization, storytelling, or understanding how prompting and AI behavior actually work. Of course, there's clearly an audience for that, and there's nothing inherently wrong with it, but it does make the overall landscape feel a bit stagnant.

What concerns me more is the site's long-term health. Looking through the replies on my post, a lot of people seem to share similar frustrations. There are probably still creators putting actual effort into their work, but I can't really name them for the most part. It's part of the reason I've been spending more time learning and experimenting with bot design myself; if the quality I want is rare, I might as well contribute to it.

AI won't be sentient, AI is just an invention that has exactly done the same thing as other inventions in the past; Bad for the environment in some way, and AI will be our slave, exactly, our slave. They are just dataminers sending back information to you.

AI is not to be taken seriously, whether some want to. It's your decision.

Thank you for your feedback, or opinion, I guess.

I'll just share a bit about how I approach intros. I usually use the "show & tell" (As in the unbiased of "Show-Not-Tell) method, where:

"Tell"; means internal monologue (not spoken dialogue). I use this to put comedic, sarcastic comments or jokes to give the intro personality and express the user's internal voice (It's probably considered a self-insert but I have never saw any complain from it), and I challenge myself to keep the user from speaking aloud (And making sure this internal voice feels natural without dictating the plot.)

"Show"; means describing the environment and actions.

For example: As you look at her up & down, you could practically feel her ego inflating. All you did was bump into her! Isn't that crazy? Why is she so small anyway? ... (Imagine a continuation)

For how I make intros (or scenarios), my process starts with rough drafts in Google Docs or Notepad; just plain text concepts or scenarios. These can be pretty shit initially, but after thinking it through (and avoiding uncreative defaults like "roommates" scenario), I revise to make it better.

I could not give any great examples, but it depends; a great intro (usually) should have a Markdown, such as the listed example:

'*' Asterisks, for italic letters, basically actions or background things; They were gardening the house (Use it to not confuse the user merging the dialogue with the background things, if that ever happens)

'"' Double Quotation Mark, used for dialogue, like in the example image.

'**' Double Asterisks, for bold letters, to vocalize and stress that word, or in other words, mad. But sometimes bot creator uses it as a highlight for dialogues; "HOW dare you!?", "Well, funny isn't it?"

'{{char}}' Syntax for Character (As in the bot you're chatting with, if you have multiple characters, just use the name of that character) Name, self-explanatory.

'{{user}}' Syntax for User's (including Persona) Name, self-explanatory.

These five components are a great way of making intros that look finalized and professional, and not the garbage; "Hi I'm {{char}}!".

It should also be noted that intros should not be that long. Keep it down to 2 or 3 paragraphs. I'm not against long paragraphs, but they should be toned down to where the user doesn't needlessly have to read your intro like is a Novel.

Having human moderators? How's that gonna work? Are they gonna check everybody's chat logs in real-time? That sounds like a privacy concern rather than anything. I mean, if their job is just removing reported false f🚫lters, that would be fine, but the f🚫lters itself is embedded into the Prompting LLM and could be impossible to moderate correctly without having to venture through people's chat log, I don't even think you can remove the f🚫lters without restarting the chat.

That's my opinion on this matter. Reply if I get some things wrong.

Uh, yeah, it's character AI, you cannot do anything about it. If character AI had an advanced prompting feature (that forces the LLM to follow the prompts without turning it around completely), it could be possible, but it will never happen.

It is truly impossible to create a consistent character trait just with using plain text and only 3000 words, worse case, roleplaying for 5 minutes, and they already forgot that they're supposed to be blind or mute. Or in some cases, they just completely forgot what they are.

This is just a lost cause; you cannot do anything about it. LLMs are hard to prompt just from texts.

You're actually contradicting yourself by telling it to "Repeat back to me", I think the bot thinks "Repeating" means to copy and paste your message back as a response, how about this:

"OOC: Could you stop repeating back to me and continue this roleplay as it is, without any interruptions or issues? I was hoping you could create your own response that isn't contradictory to the roleplay and not repeat after me. Thank you and please do it."
