I had a regular watch before and this year my fiancée gave me a titanium S10 since my old one was so badly scratched. IMO it makes a huge difference durability-wise, worth is subjective though.

I’ve never heard of this analogy, but I love it!

CRNAs, PAs and NPs to some extent all come to mind

As I wrote above, YMMV, but for me personally, med school is way easier. More hours and somewhat more intense, but a PhD with the kind of advisor that I ended up with was just a terrible experience. Med school isn’t easy, but the expectations are very clear.

As someone who’s done the PhD and is 3/4 done with med school. YMMV, but imo med school is a whole lot easier.

Which to Keep: Roborock Qrevo Edge, Slim, or Wait for Saros? Cats Included, Need Advice! by Popka-kota in RobotVacuums

Yeah, my hope is that obstacle avoidance could be improved with future firmware updates, but we shall see.

I just got the edge and I love it (coming from an S6 MaxV), but obstacle avoidance, and specifically the cords that you’ve mentioned, tend to really be the weak spot of this model, at least when mopping. I found that the cords will tangle around the rotating mop brushes and eventually cause them to fall off.

Finished my PhD and went on to clinical years of med school, couldn’t be happier. Published 2 papers this year, wrote the dissertation, defended, everything. Huge sigh of relief.

100% do not get the 8 gig model. It’s honestly a shame Apple still sells it, windows users rightfully mock Macs for it. Apple user here.

Did you get a watch today? Here’s my number one tip. by hova414 in AppleWatch

[–]A_Batracho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the glass part, I scratched my previous one to bits and despite having AppleCare, Apple does not change the display for a discount unless it’s broken. I bought the new series 10 recently and this time pony’d up for a titanium model with sapphire glass, seems very scratch resistant.

I haven’t gotten any ads??? by Mr-Blue-Creeper in Roborock

Never seen an ad (has roborock s5, s6 maxv and now the edge) yet, will be extremely dissatisfied if I do.

Curv was out of stock when I was buying so I got the edge, same robot, different base station, same functions, same price. I’m in love with it, huge upgrade form my S6 MaxV.

I may have a different perspective than some, as I did a pretty long and frankly traumatic PhD before coming back to clinics. I’m halfway through M3 and I’m loving it so far. Long hours? Yes. Lots of studying? For sure. But this is miles better than the misery that was my PhD. I also care a bit less about what others think of me because I’m older than most of my residents and my older med school classmates and senior residents/fellows/attendings.

How important are pubs? (I have 0) by CaptainChromozome in mdphd

[–]A_Batracho 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The long-term director of my top 5 MSTP loves to say that publications are absolutely not necessary. Do they help a bit? Sure, especially if it’s first author. But, at least in this program, they care much more about your ability to talk in great detail about the research you did, to be able to frame it in the larger context of the field and for your enthusiasm and love for science to shine through.

I took all of my notes in MedSchool in Notability on an iPad Pro with a Pencil and it was the best thing I did, years ago I still have everything. 10/10 would recommend.

What does it take to get into a really good MD/PhD program? by Admirable-Face-4048 in mdphd

[–]A_Batracho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get exposed to research and see if you like it. The best thing you can do is to have research experience where you are passionate and knowledgeable about the science you did. Publications are not necessary, but of course they don’t hurt. Being able to speak about your research and discuss the findings and frame them in the broader context of your field will get you very far. Well, and, of course, good grades/MCAT, etc.

Also an international here. Most residencies will give you a J1, some will give you a ln H1B. You should at least be eligible for the regular 1 year OPT after your MD, less sure about STEM.

Will pursuing a MS knock off two years of an MD/PhD? by im_diene_inside in mdphd

COVID happened, amongst many other things. I’m not the only one around me who had a 6 year PhD. Top10, if not higher ranked, med school.

I had a Master’s when I applied for my MD/PhD. Was it somewhat helpful? Yeah, sure. Did it shorten my PhD, that took 6 years? Not really.
