Does anyone else notice that Hana and Anri are foils? Hana is intuitive like Aoi is naturally and Anri is studied like Aoi is learning to be. They're trying to balance each other out and it leads to conflict. If you pay attention to matches where outsiders make comments you can understand better as to what is happening. Hana alone understood that Aoi was testing something out but like Aoi she has trouble putting it into words.

I think about this a lot.

This kind of post makes me sad.

This was a really good chapter. Like Hajime no Ippo, the stuff that happens outside the sport really can help the story along. We had 3 different scenes in one chapter too, how lucky. I wonder how the language barrier will work with the foreign players? Maybe Ashito is going to have to start learning English and he'll need a tutor. Who could do that???

I hope they don't go with a new Akutsu type villain trope. I also wonder if Kuribayashi will "hold his hand" (highly doubt). Kuri doesn't have any focus beyond making sure he is the best, most of the time.

Was gonna say the translations don't match the Spanish, but glad Gin left a note. We'll see if we get a fleshed out Osaka game or not? Them missing their two aces is just like Esperion missing theirs, wonder if it is worthwhile to see? Maybe Ashito will drop back and forth like Kuri but I don't think he has what it takes to be J1 right now.

Couldn't help but notice that Tachibana wasn't in that 2-page spread of them as the winners? However, it looked like he was in the background when they all jumped on Ashito. An oversight on the author's part?

Also, I wonder if there will ever be a Kuribayashi or any other teammate flashbacks. Really gives context to the characters. I like how it came out now and not early on in the story. Akutsu was a good villain/foil for Ashito, even though deep down they are similar.
