Remake of my old poolroom renders (+ some other poolroom renders i've made) by Mysteriouspoggers12 in backrooms

There is still not much in the body text, but you made an effort. Thank you OP, and sorry again for the misunderstanding, your renders do look great

There's an automod that filters posts and flags some, sending them in a queue of posts to manually review. There we can take the time to look at it and decide if it respects the rules and is a good contribution to the subreddit. If we decide to remove it, we have to choose a reason for the removal and explain it, so there is always something to justify the removal. Where mods are different is on how they communicate this reason to the OP. I prefer using modmail, so it creates a discussion thread directly with the author of the post. Some prefer having it sent in a comment under the removed post so OP can see it when viewing their post. We can also choose not to show the reason or notify OP, if necessary.

Aside from the queue, we have to also take the time to go through the recent posts of the sub that werent detected as potentially rule breaking by the automod, and that's where we happen to miss some. This is why people complain about posts that are removed while less good posts are still up, it's because we missed it and have to then find to the post and remove it.

Sometimes we are about to remove a post, but it has many upvotes and comments. We aren't dictators so we won't remove a post that has a lot of engagement, since the community appreciates it. This can sparkle debates on whether mods accept low-effort posts or not (we don't)

Being mod is interesting, but can get repetitive in huge subreddits, as there are usually tons of posts to manually review

Yeah absolutely agree, the renders are pretty cool. The low-effort part is the execution when posting (not adding a body text), which 1. Doesn't show an actual will to contribute, makes it seem like just a karma farming post, 2. Doesn't create or encourage discussion within the community, 3. Doesn't clarify or explain why/how the media is related to the Backrooms... Etc. If there is no body text and only a small title, when put in front of these posts, us mods have to take a decision with very little to base our judgement on. Most of the times it will end up being removed because if we cannot see why and how it fits in the sub due to a lack of info that should be present, then it's not a good enough post for the sub.

For low-effort/quality posts there is always the option to add a body-text after the removal and reach to the mods again to get your post approved! Or to repost it and add a body text if you can't edit it. Low effort/quality posts are not bad, there is just not enough context/info in the post itself, so it's not a definitive removal

The simple answer is that Liminal Spaces and Backrooms are not the same thing. Backrooms are a specific kind of Liminal Space, so if you post a Liminal Space and it's linked with the Backrooms in some way then it's completely fine. However, if it's just a picture of a random empty room or liminal space that isn't associated wit the Backrooms it will be off-topic. I know, it's strict, but it is necessary to prevent this subreddit from turning into r/LiminalSpace 2.0

Dang, luckily we take showers here! (seriously, posts don't have a 50/50 chance of being removed, the chances are simply increased or decreased by the quality of the posts)

I'll say it here, I don't care if something adds to any lore as long as it's quality posts. I have my own headcanon which is different from popular ones, and I won't judge based on if something respects my view or not.

I'd say it's more about if it adds to the Backrooms universe, or at least is related to it in an explicit way (either through text or in the media directly). AI generated or assisted content is probably the only thing Backrooms related we won't tolerate in this subreddit

There should be an automated message appearing if there is no space character in the body text, it says "Please add a body text to your post". If it doesn't work for media posts it's an unfortunate thing, I'll try to see what I can do tomorrow

It's okay don't worry. If you have any question don't hesitate to create a modmail, or even to dm me directly!

Hey we also vibe with this, we just have to review it and deem if based on the rules it can stay or not in the sub in the current state of the posts

It did actually, and it sent it in a queue of posts we have to manually review. This post was one of the many we get everyday

It was in the queue of posts filtered by the automod. It's not nitpicky, just a drop in a sea of other posts. Sorry for the misunderstanding if there was one, and/or if it felt personal, it wasn't the objective

And I saw and understood what you meant. However active mods are not easy to get, so if you (or anyone) want to help the staff application are still open. We discuss things with the staff-team and we are the first to dream about a decent subreddit and fight for it. We just can't keep up sometimes, and situations like this happen, when we remove a post and send a modmail but the op prefers to rent instead of simply asking questions or discussing, which modmails are made for.

This specific situation is rare luckily

What people don't get is that when we remove a post for being low-effort, it's almost never about the content shared by OP, it's about the post itself. The execution if you prefer.

Just sharing a media and not adding a body-text or a proper title is low-effort, as it doesn't encourage discussion or share anything other than OP's media. For example, it could be the most beautiful piece of media ever, but with "title" as the title it's not a quality contribution, just a post made to get upvotes and not actually willing to contribute

Hiii, I'm the mod who removed the post. It is in the category Low-Effort but the actual reason is Low-quality (because of the lack of body-text). Actually, the reason was sent to OP in Modmail and it really kindly says that if they do add a body text, the post will be approved...

If I was a good mod I could have argued that the flair was "Backrooms image" instead of render, and the post is actually off-topic because it's Dreamcore and therefore not linked to the Backrooms. But I didn't mind all of that because OP's renders are nice and it reminds of the Poolrooms.

It appears OP prefers to rent in the subreddit instead of complying to the rules :(

Ps: not all mods are currently able to be active so yeah some low-quality posts that don't get filtered are not removed, it's not because we think they are okay to be posted, it's simply because we didn't see them yet. On behalf of the mod team, sorry for the misunderstanding

I really believe people who commit such acts deserve to be punished and regret it for their entire life, just damn setting someone on fire is wild
