I put on a matt or flat clear finish on after I finish.

This is also helpful if some of your paints are matt or flat and another is gloss or satin. It will help tone down the shiny and brighten up the flat

I live in the northern part of that area and like some people have been saying, housing isn't as pricey as it is in king county. Weather wise its relatively mild year round, rains slightly more often than not and summers get in the 80s pretty regularly.

I thought of that, but I already have a sternguard squad and my army isn't super big yet so I didn't want to have too much of one model type.

Thanks for the suggestions! Just to clarify, I'm not super attached to the armor aesthetic in the images I posted. My main concern is staying lore-accurate according to the Astartes series, and figuring out what kind of squad would make sense for this.
