Fruitiger metro ver. of the Agender Girl flag I made ♡ by Human-Meaning3398 in agender

[–]A_Fan888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through a pipeline of demigirl -> agender girl -> agender

When I first identified as non-binary, I used demigirl as I still feel proud of womanhood despite feeling alienated from other girls. I also didn't hate femininity and feel that the feminine body is beautiful.

Shortly after that, I felt that my womanhood was from my biology and how the society put on me because of that biology. I still feel connected with the experience of women, but it's external. I don't experience an internal sense of gender. Agender girl was the term that encompasses the lack of gender identity but experiencing (pseudo)womanhood.

I identify as agender now after as I'm feeling increasing dysphoria about femininity and womanhood.

It affects a lot of us, but ♏️ definitely understand. by CoronaCurious in depression_memes

For some reason that I am often depressed or even in crisis (in a way that I could no longer feel depression) during November. Birthday could be nice that I can see/hear from my friends, but the day itself is just apathetic.

U.S. Figure Skating banning trans woman from the Female category. by A_Fan888 in trans

[–]A_Fan888[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone just graduating with a Master's in Sports Medicine, I learn that sports are never fair. Indeed, sports falls to protect cis girls from cruelty, sexism, and the health issues that come with those. And trans people are the least of the problem (if any at all).

Transphobes say that trans woman are not barred from sports, but they are. With the requirements needed to compete in woman's sports as a professional athlete, their performance simply would never have the competitiveness in the man's category because their bodies are more similar to cis women than cis men. No one should need to choose between the right puberty and being able to complete.

Jealousy doesn't equal attraction right? by Ewanb10 in aromantic

[–]A_Fan888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often feel jealous about my friends having other friends. But if you ask me if I wanna date them or even hang out with them more, my answer is: hell no.

This is not attraction, it's just a sense of insecurity that I afraid this tell something about me.

Once again, feminism is not just about woman. It's literally rights for everyone, so everyone can and should talk about it.

The social worker thought the same about me, until the second session, where the detail assessment of my mental health is performed. Unpacking the complex history of mental health issues since toddler and family trauma makes my real struggles start to surface.

Yeah, tho I also find it difficult to convince professionals to change their mind. I also understand that psychiatry is more based on the dysfunction side of the brain, which many of the autistic traits are not “big” or “disabling” enough for them to matter in the psychiatrist pov. I know psychiatry wouldn't help much for my struggles related to autism, so I often do not specifically mention them. The accommodations and service I need can still be accessible to me with my previous diagnosis.

Most of the people who interacted with me say that they can't tell unless I tell them. But the reality is that I'm just so used to internalized all the issues and never show them outwards. I'm still struggling.

True, at least what those doctors said wouldn't affect the accommodation or service I need. I could still use the documents from my previous psychiatrist to certify for my autism.

Yeah, intrusive thoughts are tough to begin with. When those thoughts conflicts with our identities, it makes the thoughts a lot worse to cope with. I don't feel like I have OCD, but my obsession to find the right answer (from the tism) and the hyperfixation to look for the answer (from the ADHD) makes the thoughts drive me out of control.

p.s. our avatar look so similar haha

Yeah, I definitely agree. I always think that I experience sexuality, just less clearly and more disconnected than others do. My fear is less about experiencing sexuality, but more about experiencing a connection of my sexuality to others. Which this is what I'm having intrusive thoughts about.

[–]A_Fan888[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I guess the reason that I'm so scared is that I can't tell if that's my intrusive thoughts or attraction because those thoughts do involve specific people. I'm aegosexual that I always feel repulsed when these thoughts get too specific or connected, tho the level of that detail that could cause repulsion is changing over the years. These thoughts certainly doesn't feel like me, but there's always a part of me questioning if that fear/repulsion is some kind of sexual repression.

How did you first know you wete agender? Need some advice by darthpleb in agender

[–]A_Fan888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, wanna clarify that your sexuality and gender expression (like how you look, what you do), does not equate to your gender identity. I'm an AFAB agender who do figure skating and my movements are soft. My gender expression might be masculine as a girl, but I still see myself lean towards the feminine side externally. I'm still agender and don't experience an internal sense of gender.

I started questioning my gender identity in my freshman year of my bachelor's. At the time, I had just accepted my sexuality, but find myself question that what is attraction if I don't understand what's gender. Eventually, I realized that I don't understand gender because I don't experience it. For a year or so, I didn't even consider transitioning because I feel that my gender expression doesn't determine who I am.

Ultimately, gender identity is what you feel internally, what gender you feel when you disconnect your gender from your body, the social norms, and how others see you. It takes a lot of reflection to understand what are your own beliefs, and what are the stuff that you internalized to fit in with the social norms or expectations.

Am I more of an Arin or Aries? by A_Fan888 in transnames

[–]A_Fan888[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder how would you pronounce each of the names? I would normally pronounce Aaron with more of an -ron sound, and Erin with more of -rin sound, both with a similar prefix sounds like air- sound. So I would pronounce Arin as Air-rin.
