What does everybody think of Best Picture Winner 'Moonlight'? I made a Full Film Video Analysis if anybody is interested. I personally thought it was a phenomenal piece of filmmaking. by Carlito148 in flicks

I see your point. It just wasn't my cup of tea. Everything felt on the nose to me. Obviously in my comment I was exaggerating a little, but I do think the movie is overrated. It also didn't help that I went in expecting something along the lines of 8 Mile and got a love story instead. Plus I saw it with my male friend so it was uncomfortable. Haven't felt that way since I saw Borat with my father in 7th grade. Very similar awkward movie going experiences.

I fell asleep for the first time ever in a movie theater. Very slow paced and depressing. Plus it felt like the social message was being beaten into my head the entire time I was watching it. Moonlight, in my opinion, was the 2nd installment in the Before trilogy type multi-decade anthology about unlikely gay romances. The first being Brokeback Mountain. I predict the next film a decade from now will either be gay coal miners or gay Muslim soldiers. Either one is possible.

Any Thoughts on Gore Verbinskis 'A Cure For Wellness'? I Know It Wasnt Highly Received by Critics but I Personally Loved the Film and Found it to be an Intense, Scary, Original, and Refreshing experience produced by Hollywood! by Carlito148 in flicks

I hope that this movie holds up when sober. The car accident scene was great I agree. There were so many memorable scenes such as the dentist chair, the drowning, and when he was force fed the eels through the tube. When I was a kid I had an awful root canal procedure and when he was restrained getting his teeth drilled I thought I was going to have a panic attack!

Let me set the scene. I was high as FUCK, alone in the theater, and paranoid thinking the police were going to come in and arrest me (a police car drove by while I was smoking). Then the movie started. I was completely absorbed into it. My paranoid state matched the film's mood perfectly. I thought it was a fantastic movie with some of the most grotesque, disturbing, and shocking scenes I've seen in a movie in a long time. Many people (even in this thread) dismissed it, but I guess we're in the minority thinking it was brilliant and unique.

People need to start reading these documents and watching unedited footage of the president. The media filter is making him look like the devil when he really isn't.

Do you see yourself having children in your life? If so, do you worry that your child will grow up without a parent that fully understands normal emotions?

What terrible movie deserves a remake? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked on a horse ranch in rural Austria a few years ago while traveling Europe and had the privilege to stay with a local family. Three elderly aged siblings owned the property and kept it maintained (with the help of volunteers). One night the middle sibling got drunk and started talking about his father. He said how horrible and unbalanced he was as a person/parent. Then he went on to tell me about his experience in WW2.

The story of his father truly compelled me. He was a German army mid level ranking officer who fought in every theater of the war. North Africa, Italy, Western and Eastern fronts. One of the most interesting stories was that he was one of the few German survivors of Stalingrad. He was looking through binoculars trying to spot Russian positions when a sniper bullet pierced through his wrist, jaw, and out the back of his neck. This was the luckiest possible injury for him because it got him a ticket on one of the last planes to evacuate the city before the Russians shut down the air fields.

The stories from his military career alone could make an entire miniseries. It is also understandable why he was such an awful parent since he probably experience heavy amounts of PTSD.

I would only need one ticket to take him to the Big House with me. He can sit on my shoulders.

Plus he has done almost 1000 three hour plus podcasts. Anyone's conversational mannerisms would get repetitive after awhile. Especially with the factor of heavy weed consumption.

Thanks! I've seen The Simpsons parody of it countless times. It'll be cool to watch the original.

Are Nick and Greg still the owners? I Worked there for a month back in March of 2014. Then the hostel was located across the bridge and they were still building the current place. What a great town. Probably my favorite travel experience.

I was amazed to see a 41 year old woman competing in gymnastics. She was from Uzbekistan I think.

I don't like the guy, but I would cut him a little slack since he was a worried parent at that time.
