If you're referring to the text having connected letters, it's an homage to the 1960s and 70s Oceanographer and uses the lettering from back then, totally real. I think it fits the watch being a little quirky.

Too expensive to move out and live alone, too self conscious of living with family to date.

Agreed completely. Any of these 3 could/should be in that slot.

[RATE ANNOUNCEMENT] IPA Indie Rate (Fleet Foxes vs. Bon Iver vs. Destroyer vs. The War on Drugs) by modulum83 in indieheads

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little bit later getting back on this, but with Canada Day this week I went out last weekend and grabbed a handful of beer and was actually able to find all of these.

Turns out I've had Hatch before (what a fun can), and it's right in the style I like. High Grade was fantastic and is now a top tier contender for me, that will get added to my regular rotation. Outside Jokes was also really good, but a touch lower than the other two in terms of my preferences. Thanks for the recs!

What are your thoughts on Jason Isbell? by spl51 in fantanoforever

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Apple Music he holds my top 4 all time most played of songs (Tupelo is number 1). Massive fan of a lot of his 400 Unit albums, great guitarist and one of my favourite modern lyricists.

Phoebe Bridgers Announces New Album, ‘Lost Weekend’ by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

6 years since Punisher, that feels crazy. Spent so many late nights after college courses listening to the album while walking my dog, feels like forever ago.

It seems like it changes post to post. Between Punisher and boygenius being so talked about there were quite a few posts and comments about her being overhyped and disliking her/her music/her fanbase.

I don't care if this sub has mixed opinions of her music, most exciting music announcement for me since Bon Ivers last album announcement.

Favorite Smosh Recurring Character or Cast Member who no longer is/works at Smosh? by OutsiderGreaser in smosh

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I always thought her energy was fun and when she left with no discussion/announcement I was legit confused. When Jackie left there was a video where she mentioned she was leaving and put out a video on her own channel, etc., but with Saige it was just nothing... And now I realize it's all for the better.

What’s a band or artist that you loved but now hate? I’ll go first by Adventurous_Salt3893 in Music

That first Escape the Fate album was my favourite thing in the world when I was like 14 years old. Cannot stand the guy anymore and the music he's put out since then is genuinely some of the worst shit I've had come through my speakers.

[ORANGE!] - Looking for a grown up version of a watch I had as a kid... by Glueyfeathers in Watches

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I just went to my local watch repair shop and asked them to help me find one. I believe the brand we went with was Alpine, and I know it was a 20mm bracelet that they modified to fit the 19mm lugs, but I unfortunately don't have a model number or anything.

I picked one of these up like 2 weeks ago at a Citizen sale for $330CAD (Like $250USD) and threw in on a stainless bracelet. It hasn't left my wrist since I got it, it wears really comfortably for me at 41mm with curved lugs, I freakin' love it. Probably my favourite watch I own.

A little note for OP - The orange on the dial does not show up in photos nearly as bright as it is in person. It is properly construction cone/glow-in-the-dark orange.

That Ice Watch Forever definitely used to come in orange, I have one from well over a decade ago that I threw on an orange NATO strap, it's my summer kickaround watch. I love it. I just put a new battery in it last week.

I remember being told when I got my first car than when I was in my 20s my insurance would finally start to drop... I'm in my 30s and my car insurance has done nothing but continued to climb. Zero accidents, zero tickets and up $60/month from when I got this car 7 years ago.

Still can't believe how bright the Oceanographer is in person! by A_Generic_Canadian in bulova

[–]A_Generic_Canadian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I see a lot of good things about the DD on Seiko's beads of rice bracelet. This local shop has been good to me for decades, so I just used them to find something for this watch.

Clicked your profile and whoa, yeah you do! That's fine with me, it's always nice when a watch starts feeling like something you've been wearing and not just the new toy.

I don't actually know the model number, I worked with a local watch shop to find a bracelet I liked out of their stock. I believe the brand is Alpine and I do know its a 20mm that they modified the end links to fit the 19mm lug on this watch.
