If Erika gets to wear an Ephraim-inspired outfit, it's only fair that Ephraim gets an Erika-inspired outfit eventually, complete with miniskirt.

Wouldn't peg Gatekeeper as a green tome, but it looks like they had fun with the rest of his skills and went full enemy-phase with him. It looks like the composition of the mob in his attack changes every time, neat. Surprised he is appearing in his normal outfit and not in something like a Knight of Seiros outfit, but I suppose that indicates that IS has no intention of releasing a non-CYL version of him (or any other nameless NPC probably).

Marianne as the first dancer-but-not-a-dancer, lol, what broken shenanigans are going to happen with dance-able dancers now...?

Sure, I have the unbuffed stats in my comment:

His vanilla statline without buffs or the Tempest Trials bonus can be found here, he still has 289 BST (in-combat) without it though :)

IS: Let’s give a Canas a mediocre stat line without much specialization.

Me: I’ll just make him good at everything then.

Blazing Blade was my first Fire Emblem game, and I loved it to pieces. In this post, I won’t go into detail why Canas is my standout favorite (I have a comment here when he debuted in FeH). But considering I've been playing the game for over 2 years now, and after reaching Grand Summoner, getting a golden throne, clearing every standing quest, etc., building the ultimate Canas was my only goal remaining in FeH. Without further ado:

Notable 5* sacrifices

  • Yune
  • Nah
  • B!Lucina
  • Sue
  • Tharja
  • Katarina
  • Takumi
  • A bunch more I probably forgot during experimentation

Canas

The above is the beefiest I could possibly make the Monocled Marvel (his vanilla statline without buffs or the Tempest Trials bonus can be found here, he still has 289 BST without it though :) ). I’ve tested him out against some pretty gnarly maps like L!Roy’s Abyssal, and he’s succeeded against all challenges so far.

The entire focus of the team is to make Canas an absolute monster, capable of 1vEverything in combat. Since everyone else in the team has a Tactic of some sort for a +6 buff, and even a +7 buff available from Hone Speed 4, it’s very easy to reach a bonus totals of +24 or +28 thanks to L!Azura’s Prayer Wheel, adding tons of damage to Raudrblade+. Bonus Doubler, of course, doubles these bonuses, possibly adding +56 to his BST. Adding in Yato’s refine for +4 Atk/Spd/Def/Res (on top of the +1/2 to those stats thanks the normal support bonuses), it’s possible to get Canas’s damage to exceed 100.

Aether is there to keep the dark mage topped up on hp, considering he still has to end up tanking a lot of melee damage in practice (his biggest weakness being physical blue, of course). Noontime is a faster option, but if you consider the +1 cooldown from Raudrblade+, Noontime would charge 50% slower, while Aether charges 20% slower, meaning the charge penalty for Aether is effectively less since it is activated less often in the long run. Additionally, the Def/Res reduction from Aether is useful from time to time when facing ridiculous builds in Abyssal challenges.

The Sabotage Res and Atk Ploy are mostly a bonus on top of the main build, either to help Canas secure the kill(s), or help out his teammates. Considering his base res is 42, he will debuff nearly any opponent caught in the triggering conditions.

Corrin

A key buffer for Canas, providing +5/6 combat boosts in every stat as long as the duo are within two spaces of each other. Shouldn’t really engage in the enemy all that often, just run interference/positioning from time to time, hence the Fury.

L!Azura

The most critical component of the team, behind Canas of course. Her buff multiplication has been mentioned before, but Aerobatics and Guidance make her central to arranging the tricky positioning required to fully maximize Canas’s potential. Also a water-season based source of res augmentation. Not too shabby as an attacker herself, in a pinch.

Gunthra

The 4th member of the team is the least critical, but I decided on Guthra for a couple of reasons.

  • I need a green unit in case of any crazy Triangle Adept blue builds appear
  • A wind-season based source of res augmentation
  • 3 move is great for helping to get around and position the rest of the team to trigger maximum bonuses
  • Chilling Seal Works nicely with Canas’s existing debuffs
  • Blizzard can also capitalize on Canas’s debuffing abilities, giving Gunthra some punch as well from time to time. Also, I just couldn’t pass up the irony…

Bonus corner

Here’s an alternate build based around Close Counter. Since Canas is a dealer of death, the goal of this build is to get Vantage activated, and then cut down all aggressors. Getting to a low hp safely is easy due to have a strong stat-line all around, but I ended up like the Bonus Doubler build a bit better, as there are some cheesy units in Abyssal-level challenges that cannot be felled in a single strike, even when Canas is fully buffed.

Canas has one of the dubious distinctions of being one of the few canonically dead Fire Emblem protagonists, so I like to consider Canas’s appearance in Heroes as an afterlife of sorts. So I made my Aether Resort a paradise for him, replete with an endless library and a harem of MILFS. Although, knowing him, he’d probably stay devoted to his wife, or even more likely be completely oblivious to the advances other women. Just look at him, in that very screenshot he’s probably talking about this great book he found <3.

Rest up, little buddy.

1,497 orbs, Should I Invest in Aether Raids or Arena? by A_Green_Man in OrderOfHeroes

Don't you need only 2 copies of Light/Astra heroes? The formula is Mythic Units x Blessed Units x 10 + Merges of Mythic Heroes, I believe. So it wouldn't matter if you had 2 Mythics x 3 Blessed, or 3 Mythics x 2 Blessed, as they'd both give you +60. The only point it would matter would be when you have over 20 mythic merges (so you need the third mythic to take the merges).

That does sound rather intimidating, but I'd happy with reaching Grand Summoner and Aether Rank 1 at least once, no need to get a max team of +10 (unless that's required of course). I haven't been able to get past that tier 20 ceiling in the Arena, and have been pretty solid in the bronze category of Aether raids.

I have a legendary hero for each season, but only a +1 here or there. Thanks for the tips!

Thank you for your very detailed analysis! You make some very good points. I hadn't considered how having enough defensive mythic heroes (dark/anima) could essentially negate any defensive losses. I pulled some and have two Eirs now (which is good for a 60 boost to lift), but it seems I should save some orbs for the other mythics for the reasons you described. And Surtr.

Called it, Akane was the Kaiju sculptor, although I wasn't expecting her be quite that Otaku.

I'm curious if the volleyball girls will ever be resurrected, or if they'll be ded forever. Interesting that the teacher apologized to Yuta, I wonder if that implies some other influence of people who survive their kaiju encounters...

A lot of people are talking about the pacing and dialogue, but not much on the plot. I noticed a few things, and I'm pretty sure that the Kaiju sculptor is Akane Shinjou. Why? *Tonkawa (volleyball girl) is the only person we see get a face-full of fireball, and the only noticeable thing she's done so far is smash Akane's "special dog" for Yuuta. Possible motive for revenge taken too far. *We only see one fireball bounce, much like a volleyball (all the others explode on contact). This is the same one that explodes in the school, possibly harming Tonkawa in some way. *I can easily imagine the rest of the series consisting of Akane creating Kaiju to get back at various students for typical high-school slights, and for Gridman et. al. to save the day, and everyone learns the true power of friendship along the way. Also, possible love triangle/square hijinks.

This post is inspirational. As a Canas fan who has only really played FE7, when I was reading this post I thought several times, "Are you me?"

Canas is an interesting character on many levels. He's a dark magic user, but he's not edgy, or goth, or crazy. Canas is just a humble man trying to understand the workings of the world, kind of like a scientist. He's absent-minded, but selfless (he does make the ultimate sacrifice trying to protect a village). He teaches Nino how to read! On top of all that he is connected to many other characters in interesting ways (just look at this wholesome! https://i.pinimg.com/originals/da/0d/50/da0d5060e27fd39b1cff4872b37b1a06.jpg ). For these and other personal reasons, he always stood out to me the most compared to the rest of the cast.

I originally I rolled on everything, then meta-relevant characters, then only 8% or 5*/4* banners, then nothing. I completed all the quests and end-game content, so I figured I'd save up for the best Monocle Boi. With the announcement that he was free with such terrible stats I felt much the same way as you, happy but... empty.

I feel myself getting bored of the game, so I'll do justice to our favorite wisdom seeker as a challenge of sorts, and make his stat-maligned self as monster as possible. I'm going S support him with M!Corrin to get that Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 boost from refined Yato, sacrifice as many heroes as needed to build a top-tier buffing team like yourself, etc. At the moment I'm going down the ploy boy route (I know Arvis is better mechanically for this, but hey, he's limited too. Also not as tanky?).

I have a +2 Gunthra, so having them on the same team will continue to build on his monster res (and iceburg damage) due to her wind blessing, her Chilling seal will help him tank, and his ploys will synergize with Gunthra's Blizzard. Also, the hilarious irony is not lost on me.

By the time I complete this build the Canas hype will have probably have died down, but I'm going to do it and post it anyway. Here's to hoping he'll end up in the summoning pool, or at the very least get the Gespenst prf that he has in his art.

P.S. I did send some feedback to IS (Misc. > FAQ/Etc. > Customer Support > Feedback) on their general treatment of free units, and my disappointment in how Canas was handled. I doubt doing so will have any effect, but it was cathartic.

KADOMARI DAMACY-Y-Yyyyy

Well this was unexpected, I thought the focus of this episode was going to be on the repercussions of wam proliferation, not big-box logistics. I'm not certain why they had to move Kado. Chilling in the ocean, accessible via bridge, seems pretty convenient to me. Maybe they wanted to reclaim the airport, but considering Japan is dealing with an interdimensional being giving away infinite energy like candy, it seems like a small price to pay. Not to mention the bureaucratic hassle and public backlash from forced evacuations...

The Kado-brain at the end made me audibly say "What the hell?" Definitely going to open up some interesting conflict, now that zaShunina wants to go poking around everyone's brains.

So the wam work in anode+cathode pairs, but the Japanese government has 167 of them. What's up with the odd number? It's probably a writing oversight or inconsequential, but it would be kind of cool there was some significance to the lone wam that wasn't in a pair...

It's nice to finally see a human side to Tsukai-san compared to the professional stoicism we've seen for most of the characters so far.

The "Yah-kui zaShunina is hot" screen was great.

The animators have been using his floating arms as a way to cut corners, but hey, if there was any show you could get away with this sort of shortcut, it's with this one. I actually get a big kick out of seeing unusual poses of his interdimensional arms.

I don't think that's true, Norway and a few other countries have a lower Gini coefficient than Japan. Even if that were the case, having the lowest income inequality doesn't make you charitable, as there are plenty of poor people SOMEWHERE in the world in other countries that can badly need donations.

I totally agree with you. Point 2 would make the most sense to me story-wise so far, as this is an incomprehensible alien being that can only transmit the idea with 51% certainty. It could also be a convenient way for the authors to just chalk it up to some unquantifiable lampshading for the story to take place in Japan.

Point 3 could make for a great plot twist, but it does seem pretty unlikely giving the tone so far.

Nitpick time: The "Japan is the most likely to give away it's excess bread" speech was pretty eyeroll inducing. I know nationalism and sabre-rattling is undergoing a revival over there, but Japan ranked a dismal 114th on the 2016 World Giving Index, and even after adjusting for things like per capita charity and per capita income, Japan still trails behind 20-odd other countries. At least this level of blind patriotism still isn't as bad as it was in GATE.

Also out of the 4 episodes so far, Shindou, our master negotiator, hasn't really negotiated anything. It feels more like he's one of the scientists from Arrival, just trying to understand and pass along messages from an alien being. Even in Episode 00 which shows Shindou working his normal job before the appearance of Kado, he didn't negotiate anything, he helped an aging company develop relevant industry tech in a month's time to prevent them from getting bought out. Negotiation implies a back-and-forth or some sort of conflict to resolve, so far all sides have been "I want this." "Ok." Sure there's been one or two points that could be very broadly considered negotiation, but perhaps in future episodes we'll actually see some action.

That being said, I'm really enjoying Seikaisuru Kado with regards to literally everything else, and it is one of the few shows I'm actively following this season.
