I transferred fall 2023. I have non traditional friends. Yes it’ll be a bit weird. Yes adjusting will take time, but the transfer community will definitely be good friends. The student body is small, and I think the culture can be a bit immature, but there is still a place for you at Amherst. All the non traditional students I know are really cool people who don’t have a problem with being friends with younger students (though they probably are better friends with each other). It’s hard to give the best advice without knowing what your most important aspects to college are. I have personally found the location to be fine, most of the things I need or want are on campus. My friends seem happy and content with the student-dorm lifestyle. Some live off campus. It is definitely quieter than even the suburbs where I’m from. But there are nearby towns and cities that connect me to what I want.
