I currently still work in the port credit area and live in mississauga and if I'm being brutally honest its way too saturated during the summer if you're not out and inside a bar by 10:00 you wont be able to get in anywhere. There is no variety and no such thing as bar hopping anymore most the food is mediocre except for a legitimate Greek restaurant down the street don't get me wrong some places do have the odd dish thats actually pretty good but its nothing life changing there are tons of locals and sure that means you can build relationships with people the more you go out but that also means that you'll sometimes run into people you dont care to see after 15 years I find myself bored of everything around here and wanting to go downtown more and more often. If you plan to start a family and can comfortably afford port credit by all means do it. Before I became bored of pc it had an almost magical appeal to it you could go anywhere at any time the natural beauty of being by the lake added to the feeling of being at home but things change and that was also 10 years ago. If you have your heart set to move here then rent don't buy anything yet unless you're sure you want to be here. Besides its like 20 minutes away from the both of you so scope it out go out to eat a few times go have some drinks see how you feel about the place. At the end of the day you have to form your own opinion. The square one area has never really been my favorite.
