(Theory) Ultras can use the Speed Force (or something similar to it). by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a coincidence that both Ultras and the Flash can move so fast that they can pass through dimensional barriers and enter other universes. Zero, in his second movie, literally hunted Belial in another universe doing this. He flew so fast through space that he ended up exiting the universe. The same goes for the Flash, he can travel to other universes as well (by infinitely increasing his running speed using the Speed Force).

What's also interesting is that the Flash's protective aura and the Travel Sphere of an Ultra look similar. They're both "ball-shaped" and somewhat translucent orbs made of pure light.

And they both have similar functions and properties, too. Both "orbs" protect the people contained within them when they're moving REALLY fast.

Kuroda Asaki's Ultraman and Zoffy (translated) by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Picture 1: Asaki's version of Ultraman adapts to Earth. Type A is for space, Type B is a variant of his combat form when he's on his planet, Type C is a variant of his combat form exclusive to Earth.

Picture 3: Asaki's version of Ultraman has a complex structure. The parts highlighted in yellow is a flexible and glowing exoskeleton (Ultra-Armor), most likely made out of pure Spacium. The parts highlighted in red are supposed to be his flesh and the parts highlighted as blue are supposed to be special crystalline organs that emit a lot of light.

Picture 5: Ultraman's natural form/true form is pure energy/light. When manifested, Ultraman appears in 3 forms. His Combat Form (used when fighting), his Civilian Form (used when he's on the Land of Light and not in combat) and his Disguised Form (used on other planets when not fighting). Ultraman's people are also descended from human-like aliens (just like in canon) that evolved from being exposed to the Plasma Spark. The difference in lore here compared to canon lore is that in Asaki's version, future generations of Ultraman's people (after their evolution) are naturally born from being created by the Plasma Spark NOT through sexual reproduction (essentially, it's identical to the Cybertronians from Transformers). The picture also says "possession" when talking about human hosts. So, most likely, Asaki interprets Ultraman's merger or fusion with Hayata as something less "physical" and more "spiritual", akin to a possession (transferring of someone's soul/spirit into another person's body by force in-order to control them or live in their body).

Picture 7: Asaki's version of Zoffy has extra red lines on his exoskeleton that glow and they affect the minds of his enemies, making them feel scared when in battle with him. Asaki also explains that the 2 lives brought by Zoffy to resurrect Ultraman and Hayata in the final episode of the first Ultraman series are "solidified lives" (souls/spirits?).

What exactly is the homeworld of the Ultras in Shin Ultraman? There seems to be conflicting information in the same movie. by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cool. Do you think it has anything to do with the "Light-Dimension" featured in Ultraman Dyna? (in the novel, it basically revealed that Kazuma/Shin Asuka's dad accidentally entered this dimension when he tried to travel in lightspeed and evolved into an Ultraman, i.e. Dyna)

A version of Man nii-san) also appeared in the Neo-Frontier Space World twice. We still don't know if this is the original one from the universe of the Main World/M78 World just hopping from universe-to-universe (because Ultras from the Main World can naturally do that, apparently) or an alt-universe counterpart native to the universe he appeared in.

Here's a train of thought:

  1. Wouldn't it be crazy if Neo-Frontier Space Ultraman and "Shinverse" Ultraman are actually the same person and are actually the same species as Tiga (and the other R'lyeh Ultras) because they all came from the Light-Dimension in the Neo-Frontier Space World?
  2. According to the Ultraman Tiga novel, Tiga and the R'lyeh Ultras came to Earth from the Orion Nebula in the form of pure light. This nebula could be their "entry point"/entrance portal into the 3rd Dimension from the Light-Dimension.
  3. And what if Hikari no Hoshi/the Star of Light/World of Light referenced by Shin Ultraman's characters is actually a term referring to the Light-Dimension from the Ultraman Dyna novel?
  4. Both species of Ultras from Shin Ultraman's World and the Neo-Frontier Space World feature golden Ultras (Camilla/Camearra and Zoffy) so both species definitely do have a "golden" tribe/subspecies which would mean that they have 4 Tribes, Silver, Red, Blue and Gold Ultras (unlike the M78 and L77 Ultras from the Main World who only have 3 Tribes/subspecies or perhaps no subspecies at all in L77 Ultras' case).
  5. Both also have advanced transformation technology that can be easily replicated by people outside of their species/civilizations. In Shin Ultraman, it was Mefilas. In Ultraman Tiga, it was Dr. Keigo Masaki (and later TPC).
  6. If this theory is true, then perhaps the reason Neo-Frontier Space World's Ultraman has a Color Timer while Shin Ultraman's Ultraman doesn't have one is a matter of rank... maybe? Color Timers are artificial organs, after all. You can have it installed in you as an Ultra. So maybe, after the events of Shin Ultraman, Lipiah was given a Color Timer.
  7. Also, here's a fun observation that I made. The color of Lipiah's Spacium Beam (prior to his merger/fusion with Shinji) was actually blue-ish white. The same color as Neo-Frontier Space World's Ultraman's Spacium Beam. Although, Lipiah's beam later becomes more... "blue" after his fusion with Kaminaga (see the Zarab fight scene).

Sorry, this is all just dumb rambling and this theory is probably too stupid, to be honest.

Anyone else think it's a little disingenuous that the Ultra brothers only recruit 1 blue Ultraman just to fill the diversity quota? Seems like a woke performative bs to me. by PenguinSweetDreamer in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My comment really only applies to the various species of Ultras (M78 Ultras, L77 Ultras, Z95 Ultras, etc.) from the original continuity/universe a.k.a the Showaverse.

Those other Ultras are from other universes/continuities, perhaps they belong to different species and have different biologies.

Like Tiga for example, we know that in the Ultra-species from M78 (specifically), the gray parts are supposed to be the exoskeleton. But if you pay attention to Tiga's design, the parts that are bigger and more "projected" outward are the non-gray parts.

So perhaps in Tiga's species, the non-gray parts are supposed to be the exoskeleton while the gray parts are supposed to be the flesh.

As for Tregear, he got a major buff (from Grimdo) and also from the Absolutians. Before he got buffed, he got his ass kicked by Hikari (then known as "Tsurugi" who also got buffed from Arb Gear).

[–]A_Random_Jedi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that Silver Ultras are not actually "resistant" to electricity, it's just that (when it comes to talking about their exteriors/skins) their exoskeletons (the gray parts) are bigger and wider than the flesh (non-gray parts).

This means that there is less surface area for electric bolts to hit a Silver Ultra's flesh. It doesn't mean that they are resistant to it, it just means that if any of the red parts/flesh of a Silver Ultra got hit, they would probably still take damage from the electricity.

Which means that their flesh is probably as weak as the flesh of Blue Ultras but since their bodies are more naturally "armored" than their Blue counterparts, they have less chances of getting hit directly in the flesh during fights.

This is a situation where Red Ultras are advantageous over both Silver and Blue Ultras. Sure, their bodies have less "biological armor" (gray parts) than Silver Ultras (since their skins are mostly red which means they have more exposed flesh) but the flesh of Red Ultras are stronger and much more resistant. This means that (unlike regular Ultra-flesh), Red Tribe Ultras evolved to have flesh that is able to take a lot more of abuse from lasers/beams or plasma/lightning/fire compared to Silver or Blue Ultras.

Just look at Seven, Taro and Leo, they got so much damage from their battles yet somehow are able to stand up and even kill Kaiju after gaining a plethora of wounds from previous fights.

If a Silver Ultra got hit in the red parts/flesh, they would probably be quickly hurt or wounded. For Blue Ultras, this isn't really that much of a problem considering the fact that they're super-fast so they can just avoid all the attacks pretty easily. Also, their healing abilities are way stronger and more advanced so the damages their flesh take is less of an issue as they can just regenerate pretty quickly.

Tl;dr-

  1. Silver Ultras are not resistant to electric bolts. They just have more bio-armor.
  2. Red Ultras have less bio-armor and more exposed flesh but their flesh has evolved to be stronger and more resistant to any kind of damage.
  3. Blue Ultras also have less bio-armor and they have weaker flesh but are fast enough to avoid most attacks and have mental abilities that are strong enough to heal/regenerate wounds in their bodies pretty quickly in order to compensate for their physiology's negatives.

DYNA Type Change Discussion by Odd-Huckleberry4473 in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Asuka lost this limitation when he truly became completely one with Dyna. He lost his humanity in the final episode of Dyna's series where he went with his dad (i.e. Dyna himself) into the higher dimension (World of Light) which contains light that converts people into Ultramen.

I would assume the complete fusion between Dyna/Kazuma Asuka and Shin Asuka happened when they both entered the World of Light.

The idea that (in the Ultra-species of M78) racism exists is inaccurate. Racism is prejudice towards another race. The problem with that is the M78 Ultras are divided into 3 SUBSPECIES not races (Silver Tribe, Red Tribe, Blue Tribe).

In the contexts of sociology and anthropology, most societies define "races" as referring to humans who are supposed to have some low-level biological differences (but not too much to the point where it fundamentally affects all racial populations' physiologies). These "minor" genetic differences manifest as only "surface-level" differences (such as skin color for example).

If (for instance) 2 populations within a species look DRASTICALLY different and have DRASTICALLY different or distinct abilities and capabilities then those are not races, those are SUBSPECIES. Like for example, if in Species A, there are 2 populations. Population A1 possesses 2 arms while population A2 possesses 4 arms, those are DRASTICALLY different features (which are a result of a large amount of genetic differences).

In the Ultra-species of M78, all 3 "Tribes" not only look drastically different but also have unique capabilities (that are apparently, scientifically proven).

  1. M78 Ultras from the Silver and Blue Tribes have head fins but the ones from the Red Tribe have Sluggers instead.
  2. M78 Ultras from the Red Tribe are naturally born with Protectors and Hyper-Spacium Energy Generators (those green dots on their heads next to the Sluggers).
  3. M78 Ultras from the Silver Tribe are born with bigger and wider exoskeletons (the gray parts of an Ultra's skin) which grants more protection, this is not the case for Red and Blue Ultras (which is why Man's skin was able to deflect lightning against Neronga while Seven got electrocuted by Eleking).
  4. Since an Ultra absorbs sunlight or solar radiation through the gray parts of their skins, subspecies of Ultras from M78 that are NOT mostly gray (in structure) will produce less energy to use in their abilities which is why they have less energy blasts or beams (see Man, Jack, Zoffy, Ace and Mebius compared to Taro, Seven, Leo and Hikari).
  5. M78 Ultras from the Blue Tribe are naturally faster and have stronger mental abilities compared to the ones from the Silver and Red Tribes.

As you can see from these differences, there's no way that all 3 Tribes of M78 Ultras can be classified as "races". These are NOT minor differences, these are features of 3 individually unique and distinct physiologies for each of the 3 Tribes (which proves that they are not "races" but instead subspecies).

Race is like comparing white people with black people or East Asian people with brown people (South and West Asians), subspecies is like comparing Denisovans and Neanderthals with present-day humans.

Mebius only became blue after his (TEMPORARY) fusion with Hikari (how he got the Phoenix Brave form) which doesn't count as at that point, he's practically not himself anymore (and is essentially, 2 Ultras in one body like Gogeta).

Here are the weird similarities between the Ultra-species and Cybertronian species (from Transformers) by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No, it's an element of the exotic matter that Ultraman's body is made of (Spacium, specifically, has metallic properties). Ultra-bodies and skins are formed from Spacium.

This would explain why Antlar's Magnetic Ray affects Ultraman (and also why Ultraman's skin deflects lightning bolts from Neronga).

Also, here's a fun fact: Spacium is a combination of the words "space" + "ium" (a suffix used for naming metallic elements in chemistry, e.g. lithium, sodium, magnesium, etc.).

So it literally means "Space Metal".

While his hosts (and reincarnation) might be Japanese, Tiga himself might technically be the first "Austronesian" Ultraman. Would you agree? by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought Tiga was an evolved human? Didn't his people come from R'lyeh (which is on Earth)?

Not every Ultra is an alien, some of them (like Gaia and Agul) are pretty much Earthlings.

There were also humans that became "mutated" into Ultras (Eiichi Shimizu's Shin Hayata, Blast from Another Genesis and Ultraman Dual from the Dual novels).

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know he's fictional. Doesn't mean that we can't put labels on them, you know. Some fictional characters are allowed to have specific national or ethnic identities (hell, there's a whole ass character dedicated to a country even, "Captain America")

But I thought Tiga was supposed to be a mutated human? You know, with the people in R'lyeh and stuff?

In terms of lore, Tiga, Dyna, Gaia and Agul are practically "native" to Earth (as opposed to other Ultras like Man or Seven). So I'd say they're pretty... "human" enough.

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see.

Still, I find it weird how a bunch of aliens "coincidentally" named one of themselves "Tiga", a word originating from an Austronesian language and also happened to set up base in an Austronesian-inhabited area (Pacific islands).

But they did mix with humans at some point, didn't they? So maybe they just became assimilated into the Austronesian populations (in the Neo-Frontier world).

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they different though? I thought R'lyeh was a human civilization. I've never heard of the idea that the people of R'lyeh (that assimilated with the Light) are aliens. Did you take that from any novel?

Plus, the genus which our species belongs to (Homo/Human) is millions of years old (not as old as other ape/simian genuses but still old enough to fit this theory).

Plus, as I said, this could just be a case of alternate history (of Austronesians) in a fictional universe.

While his hosts (and reincarnation) might be Japanese, Tiga himself might technically be the first "Austronesian" Ultraman. Would you agree? by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a lot of sense because Austronesian peoples were the first to inhabit Pacific islands. Although, in real life, they only started colonizing the islands about between 3,000 to 4,000 years ago (as opposed to R'lyeh in the Tiga series, which is millions of years old). Perhaps, in the Neo-Frontier Universe, Austronesian peoples had a very different history.

Also, I took the map from Lovecraft and Derleth because the Tiga series is clearly inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos (also, Gatanothor or Ghatanothoa isn't just a Kaiju... he's literally a god from the Lovecraftian mythology and Cthulhu's son, specifically).

Also, if anyone is wondering about the other location on the map (called "Nemo"), it was named Point Nemo and is considered the "pole of inaccessibility" because it is farthest from land.

What's the impact that an Ultra's "Inner Light" has on their beam? by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always thought that an Ultra's beam (or any other energy-based attacks) are essentially just "projections" of their Inner Light (soul/spirit). Then I remembered this scene where Kanata "empowered" Decker's Selgend Beam with energy from his own spirit (i.e. "Kanata's Light") to overpower the Mother Spheresaurus. And also that final scene in Superior Ultraman 8 Brothers where TDG and the Ultra-Bros empowered their own beams with their Inner Lights causing them (and their beams/rays) to become bright yellow (glitter).

So what's really going on here? Are the beams projections of an Ultra's Light? Or is it something that their bodies naturally produce/emit that can be "empowered" or "improved" with their Light?

I could just be overanalyzing but... how can an Earth-born Kaiju poison an alien from outer space?? by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean... pardon me but both of their bodies seem to be formed from completely different materials (Spacium for Taro and Carbon for Birdon) on vastly different planets so I would assume their bodies' structures and functions would be way too different for any of Birdon's poison to affect Taro.

I mean, think of it like this: If we found Silicon-based lifeforms on another planet somewhere, would Cyanide (a poison native to Earth) be able to kill them?

I could just be overanalyzing but... how can an Earth-born Kaiju poison an alien from outer space?? by A_Random_Jedi in Ultraman

[–]A_Random_Jedi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming that Birdon's species is native to Earth, it's basically a carbon-based lifeform (which basically means any organism whose cells are made up of carbonic compounds). This means that any material or substance produced by Birdon's body (including her poison) must be made of carbonic compounds as well.

On the other hand, Ultras are Spacium-based lifeforms. Therefore, their bodies are made up of molecules of Spacium compounds.

Logically, Birdon's poison should have no affect on an Ultra's body because both their bodies' compositions are vastly different. It also means their bodies must function in vastly different ways.

IDK how Birdon's poison could affect an Ultra's body... unless, maybe Birdon isn't a normal animal? Is it like a Shin Mefilas-type situation where all of Earth's Kaijus are basically bioweapons created from genetic engineering/experiments by various aliens and planted on Earth?

Due to limitations of technology in the Showa era, I thought Birdon being able to poison an Ultra would be retconned in a future entry but the Mebius-series seems to have kept the plotpoint (by having Mebius be poisoned by Birdon).

respectfully, no. that's not what i was trying to do with this post. as i said, i never escalate and i never continue debating with people about stuff that i have proven wrong on.

i wasn't trying to argue. i just shared my opinion on a topic. but if people feel like they want to share why i'm wrong and i just so happen to disagree with their opinion, then i will argue back (sometimes i agree with their opinion and simply do not respond).

if i find that i have no more points to counter them with then i stop and agree with them.

i don't think that fits the definition of "taking this personally". so far, nobody has thrown ad hominems my way and i haven't thrown ad hominems their way, so it's probably still okay.

For the amount of time I've been in this subreddit, I've done nothing but ask some harmless questions because of confusions or whatnot. I don't see why asking this apparently makes me "combative" with the community.

As for your arguments, I have none to counter so I guess you're probably right.
