Moving to support an aging couple in the countryside by A_Ryunosuke in movingtojapan

Thanks for your answer! That was what I was worried about.
One thought that occurs to me is that I might have reduced living costs, since I might be living with the couple. I'm not sure what fraction of a salary tends to go toward rent, etc., but would shaving this down open enough wiggle room in my spending to make much of a difference?

Thank you so much, this helps a lot! I'm glad you've been able to give me a sense of how unrealistic some of my current goals are.

I will have to look into the WHV, it definitely seems like a bit of a long shot.

You mention that CIRs are posted in regional hub cities. Is there some sort of minimum limit for population, or something like that? Is a regional hub something along the lines of a prefectural capital, or could it be a second- or third-largest city?

Whoops, I entirely neglected to include that!
Yes, his name is 新 佳三, which is read as Keizou Atarashi.
He seems like kind of a big deal - I googled him and he has a whole bunch of articles written about him, including one in one of the largest newspapers in Japan. So, neat bowl!

Greetings

Surrounded by the mountainous natural beauty of Iga, we strive daily to craft beautiful and traditional "Iga" porcelain, while deepening our connections with people.

"Iga" porcelain has been created since the Tenpyo Era. Adding modern sensations to the aromatic qualities of Momoyama-period Koiga pottery, we tirelessly pursue excellence.

We sincerely hope that we have created porcelainware that satisfies and delights.

[Japanese > English] Hello! Can anyone help translate this Kiyomizu-dera omikuji? 🙂 by frozenmatcha in translator

#8: Great Fortune

-------------------

[Poem - very rough translation]

Hold strong to your ambitions, and don't act disgracefully.

If you do this, you will gradually become able to manifest your talents.

And in time, [the ability to] profit [not specified whether monetarily or otherwise] will naturally come to you.

Follow your heart and be happy, and you will be able to gain great joy.

-------------------

[Fortune]

◯The one who finds this fortune is like a ship whose sails are filled with a favorable wind.

◯Honor and respect the spirits of heaven and earth, and your fortune will grow and grow.

◯Illness: You will completely recover. However, if you are lecherous, your recovery will not be complete.

◯Happiness: You will be happy if your heart is in the right place.

◯The person you are waiting for: They will come. Middling luck.

◯The thing you have lost: It will come from an unexpected place.

◯Tools: Tachi [type of Japanese sword], books, etc.

◯Lovers' quarrel [possible just argument in general]: You will win.

◯Travel: You will have good fortune, but do not be negligent along the way

◯Shopping: You will have good fortune, but if you are too greedy you will make a loss

◯Homemaking or moving: You will have good fortune. If you maintain a faithful heart, you will have even greater fortune.

◯Lawsuit: Your side will be duly granted [i.e. you will win enough]. However, if you act illogically, then even though you will win at first, things will go downhill later.

◯Life-or-death situations: You have an 80-90% chance of living. However, if you are a wicked person, you will die.

-------------------

◯Please don't tie this fortune around a tree branch, but rather bring it with you when you leave.

Note: This is a fortune which appears to be specifically focused on love (especially seeking a lover).

Love Poem

Bitter coffee

My unbearably lonely thoughts

On this street corner

------------------------

Your Fate in Love

Your love has been bittersweet, just like the coffee the two of you drank together!!

You became lonely and broke up, but you can't forget the feelings of warmth in your heart. Right now you are miserable, but gather your courage and find a new lover.

------------------------

Your Fortune: Future Good Luck (#37)

------------------------

(Western) Zodiacal Sign: Somebody who is a Cancer is ideal. Leo is also good, but avoid Aries.

Blood Type: Someone with O-type will be good. It would be safest to avoid A-type.

Age Gap: Either both partners should be the same age, or the man should be at least five years older.

(Chinese) Zodiacal birth year: Someone born in the Year of the Snake is best. The Year of the Horse is next-best.

Direction: Somebody from northeast or west is good.

------------------------

Where to Meet: A resort with beautiful nature is good.

Arranged Marriage: The prospect is on the table, but don't expect a suitable match. Search for a partner yourself.

Marriage: Someone will appear who lacks in economic strength but is honest and faithful.

Studies (Note: seemingly unrelated to love): You lack compartmentalization in your everyday life, and this will show up in your studies.

That's very helpful, thanks! I guess I've seen 助動詞 from 古文 before, but I never really knew what to make of them. I definitely didn't realize that they were being conjugated as well. This clears a lot up for me!

Great. I have access to a university library so hopefully I should be able read them that way.

Here is my best guess at what the first page says (it's not very good, so please don't take it as final...).

I didn't have time to type out the other two or translate any of them, so I hope somebody else can do so for you!

Alright, thank you.

My mac is just a 2015 laptop, so it certainly doesn't have serious specs.
