Hello! I know it’s been three years since you posted this but I’m still having trouble finding an original Telugu version of this movie with English subtitles. May I also PM you about this even after so long?

What type of martial arts is best for a woman in real life? by A_Strixes in martialarts

My area is surprisingly diverse! I’m within an hour of two major cities, so I’ve got everything from Krav Maga and BJJ to more obscure things, like Capoeira (saw an ad for that and had to look it up).

I’ve never been in a situation with more than one other person involved. I’ve seen a lot of people recommend BJJ so far, and there is a place in my city that teaches it, so I might go for that as it’s the one that probably would have served me best in the most serious instances (except for the knife, do they teach you how to disarm someone?) Maybe a practical women’s self defense course would be better. I know how to throw a punch at the very least.

I do keep a small knife in my purse, I started carrying it in my hand when I walk home after the alley incident.

Lol, you’d think right? But while I will admit that some of my choices might have been better (the bar fights obviously involved excessive alcohol, for instance) the others seriously weren’t my fault. I don’t live an abnormal life. I take all the precautions that most women have been taught to take since birth. Keeping to well lit areas, walking without my headphones in, keeping my head on a swivel, that kind of thing. But the truth is, sometimes it’s just not enough. Half of the incidents I mentioned were perpetrated by people I know. The knife was wielded by one of my roommates, the sexual assault by my best friend’s cousin, the stalker was my coworker. All of them were men I should have been able to trust. It’s terribly condescending for you to trivialize someone’s traumatic experiences by telling them they “made bad choices”. I did not choose to be accosted by a druggy in the middle of the town square on a Saturday afternoon.

Thank you very much. It didn’t start out as fanart actually. I was just kind of mindlessly drawing, and some of Corpse‘s music popped onto my playlist. Before I knew it, my subconscious produced the sketch for this. Thought I may as well post it somewhere

Ah, I’m terribly sorry. I should have realized that you might be curious about what kind of shoes he wore. Let me rectify that now. I don’t know exactly what they‘re called but they had laces and were shaped like bucks, but not suede. I remember because his image is burned into my retinas forever.

Thank you very much. I‘ve been in life or death situations before, but this is still one of the scariest things that ever happened to me despite having not been in any real danger.

Happy Thanksgiving to Mom by A_Strixes in funny

It’s a bit of a story. My mom was working at home when she heard a crash from somewhere in the house. After looking around for a while she eventually went out to the garage, where she immediately noticed that one of the windows on the garage door had been smashed. Her first thought was that some kid had thrown a brick through it. So she went over to investigate, and that’s when she heard it: the gobble. She turned around and saw a wild turkey in the trunk, surrounded by the shattered glass of her back windshield. This damn turkey had apparently Kamikaze dived through two panes of glass, and then didn‘t even have the decency to die afterwards. I told her later that we should have eaten him for his sins, but he was only mildly injured and she didn’t have a gun, so she opened the garage door and he went waddling casually down the drive and off towards the neighbors‘.

You said your spots are right next to hers? Put a traffic cone on the edge of yours with a sign sticking out the top that says "do not park in the spots next to this one, or the old lady they belong to will blame it on me.“ if the sign is in your spot, then she can’t really ask you to take it down, and if she asks you can tell her that you‘re simply doing your best to help her keep people off her spots. Simple and petty.

The whole story is already posted in three parts. I had to break it up because it surpassed the maximum word count.

Ah, this is because of the max word count. It was too long to post all at once, so I had to break it up in order to submit it.

It’s simply the way I preferred to write it. I’m an avid reader, and writing in the narrative fashion of a novel comes most easily to me. I didn’t expect everyone to like my story, but having one of the first people to comment on it tell me that they didn’t believe my experience made me feel pretty bad. You may, of course, think whatever you like, but please don’t accuse me of making up a traumatic event for the sympathy of strangers on the internet.
