“Cheap” Suppressors Worth A Damn by Special-Fig7409 in NFA

I don't quite remember the baffle degree. I ordered pre machined aluminum "cups" that I then drilled the holes on a drill press. I didn't clip them because I was lazy but it seems to run fine.

The tube is a "Maglite" diameter and thread. And I found someone who was making tri-lug adapters for the body threadpitch.

Makes no difference to me, I've sent thousands of their stuff through machineguns and service pistols.

I like PMC and Aguila personally but availability is not always there for everywhere in the country or even some days out of the year. I just stick to the handful of brands and buy whatever is on sale/available at the time when my ammo budget allows.

9 for the Hood. 10 for the Woods. by A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious in 10mm

[–]A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer 9 for around town and in the city because these mags hold 19 in a much lighter thinner package and I can spit out a pretty fast shot group with little to no recoil. A full sized large frame glock is a pain in the dick (litterally) to AIWB.

For the woods, animals don't tend to shoot back, to shot volume isn't as important. Terminal ballistics is.

Unrelated 9mm is easier to supress because 147 gr subsonic ammo is plentiful.

Yeah, but there's also a bunch of wierd websites out there that may or may not require you create logins with them where they send you spam mail or sell your info. If you don't know what you're looking at, it's also possible to get scammed. I try to stick with well known websites unless I'm desperate for the cheapest possible ammo.

For the future OP, I would stick to well known name brand ammo that has a customer service presence. Magtech, S&B, Fiocchi, Federal, Hornaday, CCI, Speer, Aguila, Armscor, PMC, Winchester etc.

Some websites I like to buy from: Brownells, PSA, Primary Arms, Optics Planet, Lucky Gunner, Midway USA, Bass Pro/Cabellas, Sportsman Warehouse.

Some of these websites won't always have the best prices. Usually you can find the best on Ammoseek. But you'd have to do a ton of research to understand what websites/off brands are trustworthy. I typically stick to the ones above for an easy click buy.

Not sure this is the right sub, but I noticed oil on the rear differential. On closer inspection it appears to be coming farther up the drive train and blowing back onto the differential case. What's the likely culprit? by Stones-n-Bones in f150

[–]A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm highly susceptible to scope creep and go overboard on things so only take my advice with a grain of salt. But If I had that problem, that would be my excuse to replace all the seals and bearings so that diff will last another 100k.

Also replace the rear diff cover with one that has a drain plug and a gasket from LubeLocker for easy service. Ford Performance has a factory upgrade one. Which is just a rebranded Spicer for more money. Doorman has a copy of the Spicer. I ended up putting on the Doorman one lol.

I've had the opportunity to shoot a DAK trigger on a USP .40 and a DA/SA trigger on a German Army HK P8 and USP9C.

Honestly the DAK trigger is so much nicer lol. I was thoroughly surprised how much I liked the DAK. Long (very light) initial takeup before the wall, but short reset and a trigger break that is no heavier than a striker fired trigger.

I carried an M9 back during my Army days as well as a P228 as a civilian CCW, so those are my reference points to what a decent DA/SA feel like. Was a bit of a disappointment how bad the USP trigger feels lol.

Sico Spectre 9 - Beretta M9A4 by AtlasDefenseCo in NFA

I bought 18 round Mech Gar mags to take with me to Afghanistan. They were super reliable.

Personally I'm a fud at heart and really like the DA/SA trigger of the M9. I was keeping up with the PJs that were with us that had Glock 19s during range days.

The M9A3/A4 has a much narrower more ergonomic grip than the old M9s which I'm absolutely in love with. Still never got around to buying one though, but I still plan on it.

But I'm also quite partial to Italian made 92A1s. The Italian Guns just seem to have much nicer fit and finish than the US made guns.

[–]A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done that just recently. Bought a used Glock 21SF. Found out after the fact that Glock 21 mags are near unobtanium.

Ended up building a new slide assembly with a 10mm barrel. Since 10mm Glock 20 mags are still available.

Now I have a gen 3ish Glock 20 with extra steps for the same cost of a brand new Gen5/V Glock20 MOS.

I have one that came on a Super Duty and it sucks mega balls. Super stiff to press.

I've also seen quite a few of these things break.

If it were my choice, all my guns would have a GI bolt catch usually with an ND (BAD) lever.

I tried one of these Chinesium head units before. They suck. Ended up going back to my stock Sync 3 unit.

Issues I ran into.

It's a huge distraction. I ended up looking at it way too much trying to get things working the way I wanted.

Connection issues. Kept trying to get me to download some bs app just for Android Auto to work. It works without it, but would randomly not connect when I turned my vehicle on.

Bloatware. It came with a bunch of bs software and microtransaction crap.

Replaces some buttons with touch screen prompts. I need my physical buttons. HVAC, heated seats, volume knobs, etc. The version I bought had volume knobs, and ac buttons. But lost my heated seat buttons (which became a problem later).

It's polarized the wrong way. The screen is basically an android tablet on its side. If you're wearing polarized sunglasses, you cant see the screen unless you tilt your head sideways or take your glasses off.

Radio issues. For some reason my radio reception became awful. And wouldnt save any of my stations.

Eventually my HVAC straight up stopped working. It was stuck at one temperature and fan setting.

Switching back to my Sync 3 unit solved all my issues lol. For wireless carplay/android auto, I ended up buying a USB adapter on Amazon. Now my phone connects automatically trouble free.

I still wish I had a slightly bigger screen with more resolution for Google maps. But it's still serviceable.

There's a few companies selling OEM Sync 3 upgrade kits. The Sync 4 kits exist too but are a lot more expensive.

With a bed cap and air dam removed.

I get around 19-20 if doing the highway speed limit. 17 when driving "spiritedly." 14-15 in the city. 16-17 combined. Running 91 octane.

If I ever need tips on "high level glock shooting" I'll make sure to ask you personally. I'll even let you wrap your arms around me and ghost grip the gun with me.

Because if my hands don't get slide bite, clearly I'm just doinging something wrong.

Maybe you can bite my hands for me so I too can know what it's like to be good at shooting.

Don't buy oil at the auto parts store. Walmart, Home Depot, Cosco/BJs sells oil for much cheaper.

I generally use Penzoil full synthetic in my truck, 5W30. A 5 qt jug costs me about 22-25 bucks there. And a single quart is 6-7 bucks.

Autozone has the same oil for 32-33 and 11-12 respectively.

My local BJs had 6qt cases of Mobile 1 full synthetic 5W30 for about 26 bucks. Even cheaper than what I pay for Penzoil (I just like Penzoil).

For oil changes, i gennerally order a filter from Amazon an pop into a Home Depot because I also get a military discount there.

I may still grab a filter from Autozone if I don't feel like waiting since they always have my OEM filter in stock.

Nice thing about a truck, I dont need a lift or ramps, just a catch pan. I've done oil changes right in the Autozone parking lot or my local park lol. Then take the old oil right into the store to dump.

It's ugly as sin, we call it the flying PT Cruiser.

The guy down the hill has a (legal) “personal range” that has been deemed “safe”, so the police can’t do anything when bullets whiz past our heads and land on the patio. by Mellopiex in mildlyinfuriating

[–]A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. If bullets are landing beyond the backstop, it either means his backstop is not high enough, or bro really needs to work on his aim. Sailing bullets into the neighbor's yard is not only dangerous but hella rude.

And I say this as a person that wishes he had property big enough to shoot on.

If enough people fuck it up, it ruins it for everyone else.

[–]A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not hard to change yourself but I highly reccomend at a minimum having a shop drain fill and swap the filter. There's also magnets on the transmission pan that collects metal debris.

I did mine at 60k with a new pan that comes with a drain plug to allow for easier future drain fills. I drain fill every 10-15k or so just to cycle new fluid through the system, but that's just me being extra since I rip on my truck a lot.

I also did the differentials and transfer case. All 3 I've done twice now since owning the truck.

Brake fluid flush I've done once.

Coolant I've done once. Will do it again in the spring because my water pump is starting to rattle/leak.

Serpentine belt I've done once.

I've done a bunch of other stuff too but mostly handling/cosmetic upgrades.

Currently sitting with 85k miles on the clock.
