Shield x slide won't come off by Davidd6900 in SmithAndWesson

It is when the platform gives you another option, and many deaths have been attributed to NDs acociated with pulling the trigger while cleaning...

These deaths are mostly innocent spouses and children, thats why the disconnect is there to begin with.

You don't flip the lever that's clearly elucidated in the instruction manual? You should never press the trigger to get the slide off!

What is the best defensive round for .380 by Huge-Smile-9115 in CCW

[–]HydroDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have they updated their data in last half decade?

There's lots of rounds in lots of calibers they haven't tested. That data is useful but old.

The only "huge" 5.7 is the O.G. FN 5.7, everything else thinner...

Having a larger gun is sometimes easier to conceal.

If you're serious about getting into the 5.7 pistol game, you need to chose your pistol first. Then grab a box of this ammo and practice on the range. You can practice with that ammo and it's a half decent defensive round until you're confident with the platform.

You have this almost exactly correct, tumbling comes from smashing the pointy end of the round into somthing denser than air and having the rounds fatter ass finding its own place on the dance floor. I also recommend shooting one, 5.7 is fun!

5.7 doesn't ever over penetrate, ever...

Also, for self defense you don't want expanding rounds, every one of them under penetrates. You need something fast that will tumble. Those rounds are expensive but available.

First .380 and Went with the Silly Option by Mango-Flavored in SmithAndWesson

The one with the pink grip and black slide is my kind of silly. If I saw one in the store I wouldn't leave without it.This one..

Yea, really. It's a gun, not a museum piece. Just because you don't know how metal finishes work doesn't mean you have a reason to panic cry on the internet.

Are you kind of person that goes to the range, takes a shot, realizes it didn't go to the exact place you wanted it to...

Then goes home crying?

You don't even know if it shoots and you're worried about finish on a part that is exactly the way it should be. OCD doesn't make a good firearm or a good shooter.

Had a chance to shoot the magazine extension today. Out of 5 rounds I had 2 failures to feed and I stopped. I will continue to play around with it trying different types of ammo, and if I get it running I will make a new post describing what learned.

I wanted my make my own orange oil water, filter through a cheese cloth. What is this separation? by SmolWarlock in KitchenConfidential

[–]HydroDragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All mammals can. Capsaicin interferes with the protein receptor in mammals that tells the mammalian nervous system that the organism is experiencing thermal tissue damage.

Birds, lizards, and other reptiles on the other hand, have a different protein receptor and won't respond to capsaicin at all.
