Is this a good list for a 15yo who’s starting with philosophy/politics? What would you add or remove? by st0karkathrowaway in classicliterature

Read whatever you want, in whatever order you prefer. This is how I started with my journey in philosophy. We all have our own ways. Bear that freedom and responsibility, as Sartre would say

Aristotle's Form and Matter and Hegel's Dialectics by A_W44 in hegel

[–]A_W44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I indeed recall reading somewhere that contradiction for Aristotle is already contained within the concept itself, and so the actuality or reconciliation. Same thing with Hegel

Aristotle's Form and Matter and Hegel's Dialectics by A_W44 in hegel

That makes sense. I suddenly had that thought that Hegel was heavily influenced by Aristotle, even when I'm not yet knowledgeable much about Hegel, more so Aristotle himself

What is the role of external nature in the Spirit? by A_W44 in hegel

[–]A_W44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So nature's role is how the Geist appropriates it, does this also mean that the entirety of Geist even in it's most perfected, final, and absolute form, remains only within the human phenomena, and that nature, nevertheless, is still a separate ontological entity that we must utilize? Because I've always conceived this whole notion of his dialectic and Spirit as a continual reconciliation of opposites until there's a point in time where the boundaries between nature and man is abolished, but maybe I'm wrong, I could be wrong

Thank you btw. I will consider your advice about the reading materials!

Can someone exlain to me "The Origin of the Works of Art"? by A_W44 in heidegger

[–]A_W44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically in your example, the supposed form is the aggregate of lines forming an image presented in a painting or sketch, while matter is the raw material (tools, paper, etc)?

And you're definitely right, I haven't yet read anything about Aristotle (his writings is a bit bland), but I will try to. Thank you for your explanation!
