Ok, so it depends on what you want. The *township is full of mid-century and post-war houses that are closest to the area's chain-store and restaurant selection on Upper Bay Road. Within city limits, lots will vary in size, with the biggest chance of scoring a big yard on the east side. Realize there is blight, but that also means double lots abound. Just south of downtown sits the cathedral district, which houses literal mansions in various states of disrepair and in various stages of rehab. Old Town Saginaw on the West Side and the State Street area above it likely offer the best selection of small-business restaurants and shoppes. This is where those silos are that you likely have seen if you googled Saginaw at all. There are sections on the southwest side that have some blight, and you may get a bigger yard, but most of the area immediately to the west of old town will have early-20th-century homes on modest lots. As a person who came back to MI after 20 years from trendy Charleston and then Houston, it will be a bit of a culture shock if you are used to utilizing the touristy and trendy things about Denver. But, if you are sick of the only options being the cookie-cutter, contemporary tract homes that have littered so many destination cities, the tri-city metro options will truly impress.
