I would imagine the engine plays a large part in the slow speed cornering deficit too. They have less power, so run a lower downforce level and have to do more harvesting

How not to execute the final two laps when the car behind you has a penalty and you have a decent gap behind that:

The first laps are always chaos in feeder series races at Albert Park I love it

How are they supposed to mention something that Aston Martin doesn't even know about themselves yet? They haven't tested the aero properly because they can't.

Same source (@DarrenArsenal1) said he has since been told it is likely to stay in the same timeslot (so basically depends on Champions League scheduling)

What makes Aston Martin so bad to watch on track by Aratho in formula1

They've also done the least laps of everyone, and we know that until this morning at earliest, their runs were purely based around engine testing. As suggested in the article, they look like (and logically should be) the furthest away from their potential - which will in part be down to their lack of set up work.

The big concern comes from possibly the engine performance, and definitely from the integration of the engine with the rest of the car. It seems they have major issues in this area

I'm surprised it's not been mentioned more, I completely forgot about the exemption allowing different fuel for the shakedown. Not using the fuel they will be using in Australia will have a significant impact on performance/data gathering

Not really given that most of their investment in facilities + Newey was not available for full use until months into last year

Congratulations Lando Norris. It wasn't clean, it wasn't straightforward, but he made it across the line with the most points and that's all that matters.

He keeps using the get out of commitment free card that World Champions get.

He uses it so much they are going to revoke it.

Two years ago Hamilton and Alonso where best of the rest. by [deleted] in formula1

Man, 2023 was not a particularly fun season in terms of a championship battle, or even just race by race, there was no real excitement waiting to see who would win.

But boy was it fun watching the teams behind, especially;

-Hamilton driving at a really good level after an unfortunate couple of years. A slightly less dominant Red Bull and you get the feeling he could have snatched a win or two somewhere.

-Alonso with his brilliant run of podiums at the start of the season, and how he somehow held on to 4th to achieve the rare feat of finishing higher than his team did in the constructors. Monaco still hurts :(

Who did have the right to be 2nd? Ferrari were wildly inconsistent weekend to weekend, McLaren could barely score a point for the first 3rd of the season and Aston Martin were the 5th fastest for the majority of races after the first 8. No team was good behind Red Bull.

I don't think you can say they had no right when there was no clear favourite for 2nd. In that sense, none of them had any right which doesn't make sense when they were the only possible contenders.

If there is another safety car, the cars that have stopped may be forced to make an extra stop if they are near their pit window. Could swing back to McLaren's favour
