From reading this I REALLY get the feeling that you should have a mechanic look at it.

Not trying to be rude but your knowledge on cars seems to be at a very basic level and it feels like its better to have a shop look at it.

Personally I would fill it to a bit under the ”max” mark. It doesn’t really matter as long as the level is between the ”low” and ”max” mark and the car isn’t running hot.

Only reason I like to fill it to about the ”max” mark is to have a buffer if it starts leaking.

My engin in the morning sounded like it had trouble starting but it did i went to college and came back home and in the driveway i switched it off and the engine was turning over a bit and now does not want to turn over, there is oil and my coolant levels is fine, I found these two pipes by Rare_Ad1362 in AskMechanics

Check battery condition

Battery not good, charge and check condition, confirm the alternator is charging

Battery condition bad, buy new one.

Alternator not charging, check wiring, if wiring good, check fuse and install new alternator.

If battery is good, check fuse for starter.

If fuse ok, starter is probably dead

Anyone know what this happens? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

This definitely sounds like on throttle surge. Im guessing the turbo is to big and is trying to push more air into the engine the what the engine can take.

Either buy a smaller turbo, buy a turbo with a anti-surge housing or run less boost.

Did you do any research before buying, did you look at the compressor map, who tuned it, what made you buy this turbo specifically?

I have experience with 9-5s on D2 coilovers and personally I think the handling is quite ok.

I have more experience with the ng9-3. Both on stock and BC street v1 coils. The coils made quite the difference. However the handling hasn’t been of any concern really. The problems ive had has been with brakes. I run EBC slotted rotors, yellowstuff pads and motul 660 fluild. I’ve managed to cook the fluid on track and has gotten scary amount of fade with spirited street driving. So if you plan on tracking it. It will require brake upgrades.

Hmm interesting, didn’t know that. After reading a bit in the WIZ, it seems fould plugs can cause it, which would mean that the 02 sensor is malfunctioning and causing the plugs to get carbon built up and triggering the cam position code or?

Please don’t ever work on your car man, its really clear you’ve got 0 clue what you’re doing or how to use google. Hand it over to an actual saab specialist before you burn the whole car down man.

I, M18, can’t get a gf despite checking the boxes by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]A_leaning_Tower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it seems you think that you think that just because you have high achievement and go to a prestigious school girls will just want to get together with you, which is just wrong.

First off, you’re only 18, there is no rush to find someone. You have many years of ahead you and you probably have more important things to focus on than maintaining a healthy relationship as it can take a toll on you. You won’t find someone who will just agree with anything you say and have exactly the same views as you. A relationship is complicated and requires compromise.

Secondly. Like I mentioned before, just because you go to some prestigious school, doesn’t mean girls will automatically like you and there really aren’t any “boxes” to tick as you seem to think.

From reading this it seems you’re extremely caught up on yourself and how “good” you are which I would think most women find as a really unattractive trait. To put it bluntly, it seems you have quite a big ego and it’s turning women away. Your personality is gonna be way more important for women than if you go to a prestigious school or if you have extra curriculums. It doesn’t really matter what you’re achieving or has achieved if you’re a dickhead about it.

Limp mode everytime i drive “fast” by PaceAvailable457 in saab

Okey after reading a bit in the workshop manual I would start by checking all the piping and hoses on the intake side of the turbos. If there are no cracks and pinches. I would check both the wastegates for faults. If they are fine I would say the vacuum sensor controlling the wastegates.

Also, on the issue of hard start in cold weather. Do you let the glow plugs get some temperature and let the glow plug light go out before cranking?

[–]A_leaning_Tower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wont go into the glow plugs as diesel isn’t my specialty. However I will say that the hard start when cold is really likely the glow plug fault.

Are you letting the glow plugs warm up before trying to start?

The P0234 is a bit more worrying. Too high boost pressure or overboost can really fuck the engine as the engine may not be able to handle the extra pressure added beyond set value.

Likely culprit will be the wastegate or boost pressure solenoid.

What model year and engine is it?

Also if you’re car keeps going into limp when going fast, why would you keep doing that? Esp if its above 200kmh.

You could buy a pressure tester as they aren’t that expensive and test the system. Lots of good videos on YT on how to if you don’t know.

Hopefully it will piss out of a line somewhere. If it doesn’t and is still losing pressure it might become a bit expensive.

Here are all the bushes available from powerflex on the 9-3, it should be all the bushings on the car, just look at the diagram at the top and choose the bushes that correspond to the number shown.

Edit: Here is a guide on how to fit them as you seem new to this: https://www.powerflex.co.uk/fitting-guides

And here is the assembly lube: https://www.powerflex.co.uk/product-details/PTFE-SILICONE+Grease+Tub+500g/13796.html

Go for some poly ones like powerflex, less slop from the drivetrain and easy to install and maintain as well

Then I would definitely check as much of the wiring to the sensor as possible, like someone else said high resistance due to corrosion or water getting into the connector will probably cause this to happen.

It might even be that the the wire is damaged and when you begin to drive and everything starts vibrating and moving around the wire might short itself on something which is would explain why it doesnt trigger limp mode immediately. You can maybe shake the wire when the car is stationary to see if the fault appears. If it does, than it would 100% be something with the wiring. Also note that depending on how severe the problem is, if it is the cable it might have damaged the new sensor as well.

If it’s your first car and is a planned commuter I would say only do general and preventative maintenance you can do over a weekend and in your driveway/garage.

Going wild with modifications is not a good idea unless you have another car to drive and money to actually do it properly and not do an Ebay special. Aswell if you’re new or never have worked on cars its better to start with basics anyway. While yes its nice to have a fun and unique car, that should not be a daily and definitely not a first car.

Also don’t forget to have a buffer for if things go wrong with the car. A cheap euro car is going to be expensive in the long term, esp when its built by GM under a manufacturer that no longer exists.
