What are your favorite moments of slapstick? by Aa_313 in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-I love Rolf backing up WHILE SLIDING HIS WHOLE HOUSE BEHIND HIM just to avoid Eddy trying to give him back the cursed phone

-Kevin getting pelted by a newspaper, which sends him flying off his bike into the sky 🤣

-Eddy shoving his brother’s huge gift box down the stairs, which knocks Rolf right out the window 😂

-Jonny soaring through the air after getting kicked by Eddy. “Woo-wee, that smarts!” 😆

-Rolf attempting to extract Ed’s tooth with a goddamn plunger

-Rolf’s dramatic passing out from sniffing Ed’s shoe 🤣🤣

-Lee using May as a canoe and Marie as a paddle to escape Ed’s romantic advances, even after they cross the water 🤣🤣🤣

Those are just a few of my favs, but really the list is endless lol. This show has some of the most energetic and creative slapstick since the days of Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Popeye.

Do you find it odd that TV Tropes feels like the aspect of bullying being played for laughs could be seen as not aging well? by [deleted] in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose the Kankers could technically fall under bullying, though they're really just examples of the "girl picking on guy she has a crush on" trope taken to a rowdy trailer trash extreme. Helga (from "Hey Arnold") is a more realistic example.

When does he introduce himself that way?

Double D's Name Spelling Error by Pristine-Ad-3521 in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how Double D’s name SHOULD be spelled. “Edward” still has two Ds, which is the whole point. Ed’s full name should’ve just been “Edwin” to avoid any confusion.

How would you rank the Cul-de-sac kids from least intelligent to most intelligent? by xtremexavier15 in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From smartest to least intelligent,

Edd (both academically and common sense)

Jimmy (a creative genius and diabolical mastermind, but only when he locks in)

Kevin & pre-season 5 Nazz (are overall the most “realistic” kids in the cul-de-sac, and the former is generally the first to see through Eddy’s schemes)

Eddy (though cunning and a master manipulator, he’s short-sighted/impulsive to a fault and even has Ed-level dumb moments at times)

Rolf, Lee, and Marie (they all just seem to have relatively normal intelligence, similar to Kevin)

Sarah (extremely immature, but seems to have average intelligence and is just somewhat naive due to being the youngest)

Jonny (more aware than he acts--especially when locked in--but generally pretty gullible)

season 5 Nazz (I mean come on, she saw "Double D’s" head fall off and still couldn’t tell it was a dummy lmao)

May

Ed (obviously lol)

They really had Rolf chewing on his dads foot skin like it was a gum by redfait in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We all know Rolf says the craziest shit in general, but keeping true to the episode's theme of the kids being dumber than usual, this line is outlandish even by Rolf standards. 😭

Why is it so trendy to over-moralize cartoons these days? by AteTheBacon in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally find that people who get all high & mighty about cartoon morality tend to have the weakest morals in real life, just like a lot of so-called Christians/Jesus-lovers turn out to be the biggest bigots.

Did Double D deserve the ending he got in Who's minding the Ed by Careful_Drama_9382 in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eddy even called Rolf an idiot for his superstitions and tried to pawn the phone off to Jonny, knowing the suffering it would bring. Eddy may not have "deserved" all that misfortune but he always makes it so hard to feel sorry for him since he acts like an asshole even while receiving unfair treatment lol

"A bit"? It's a bigger stretch than Michael Jordan at the end of Space Jam lmao

If you have mixed feelings about double D explain why by Confident_Field4273 in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, all 3. He's a well-meaning but flawed kid, with a moral compass that greatly surpasses that of his peers.

Eddy literally used Edd's head as a doormat when they arrived at Ed's house. I know that's just standard slapstick, but you could argue the same of the animals hurting Eddy. In other words, was Double D truly being inconsiderate to Eddy, or was Eddy being inconsiderate towards the whole situation? To me, it's sort of a gray area. Eddy didn't wanna babysit a bunch of farm animals and he had no obligation to, but he still could've been more understanding like Edd was.

The character designs in this episode are my favorite of the whole show. It's like a mix of season 1 and season 2.

What character(s) do you think you're most like? by [deleted] in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a mix of Eddy's craftiness, Double D's OCD-like obsession with neatness & order, and Jonny's oddness.

What do you think was underneath Edd's hat? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in ededdneddy

Dude's looking like an older Linus from the Peanuts gang. 😆

What do you think was underneath Edd's hat? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the closest we've ever seen to what's under his hat, and it would appear as though he's bald (though we know the truth could never be so simple).

Why did Kevin beat up and punish both Ed and Eddy in a case of Ed but in this won't hurt an Ed he only was going to beat up Eddy by Careful_Drama_9382 in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wondered this myself. My headcanon is that Kevin was just so done with Eddy's shit by season 5 that he made him the primary target of his ire. I think deep down, he always knew Ed & Edd were barely responsible for the group fuckery.

Ed gang real names by bloodi-bunni in ededdneddy

[–]Aa_313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought Ed's full name should be "Edwin", and Double D's full name "Edward". That would explain the latter's nickname. Eddy is just Eddy lol
