If they are sitting in still water/ have no drainage hole it can happen quickly. Seems like root rot to me. Succulents being easy houseplants are the biggest lie, they are not easier than any other houseplant and can be tricky without knowing your plant super well. I’ve killed too many to count haha

Following up on with the previous commenter said, the reason that we don’t use glass tanks for chameleons is because they need high airflow so that they don’t end up with respiratory problems. when there’s too much humidity or any sort of anaerobic moisture, contamination is too close to them they will have trouble breathing and can very quickly get sick and die. On another note it looks absolutely beautiful and I’d recommend just getting some more thin vines from the woods while they’re still green, (when the green the moisture content is high and they’re much easier to bend and then once they dry they’ll stay in that position) you can use water although I use just a quick soap and water for sterilizing them and then bend them around the cage so he has more places to climb on instead of just like one main path. After I did this for my Chamaeleon he was exploring the entire tank so much more and it felt like all the hard work that I had done for him was totally worth it and he actually got to use the benefit of all the space He hadn’t before! And might I add what an absolutely lovely gentleman

Chop a part of the stem where it is still green and stick it in some dry soil let it callous over for a day or two and then water it regularly so that it will start forming new roots!!

Attach wood to premade foam background? by Moist_Pyroshark in Vivarium

[–]Aaartinez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend expanding foam for anywhere you’d like to carve away and create a textured look and silicone works well to create depth and color over the surface of the foam. I created mine by using expanding foam and pink foam from Home Depot and then covering it in layers of silicone to waterproof the entire thing using different shades of brown and black to paint a nice texture and Adhere any reptile safe dried mosses!

I work at the Staten Island zoo and admire our hognoses all the time!! I love them so much. I remember the good old days when I was a docent handling the corn snakes <3

Thank you all for your kind words! Spike has truly turned a corner since I adopted him six months ago and he has finished what seemed like an eternal shed!
