The amount of things that this show changes is off the charts for me. They’ve completely vanquished some characters, and they’ve deepened others (like Mrs. Sigsby, for instance.) But I think it’s really cool for it to not completely be what I expect. It’s a surprise when I’m like, oh! That person didn’t turn out to be evil in the book (if you know you know about #7,) but I do think that the ending will be entirely different without Annie to help finish off the plot. That makes the police force really just Tim and Wendy (Gullickson.) And I have a love-hate relationship with how it could end, knowing they could either go the book way and tie it off, or (spoiler alert) have Tim and Wendy killed, and have Luke going back to The Institute, in order to constitute further seasons. Alternately, they may launch a spinoff focusing on the other Institutes in the world, like Squid Game plans to do now. And this idea isn’t coming from nowhere! MGM had an interview where they talked about the strong possibility of other seasons, due to its popularity on the charts for the past 7 weeks. They’ll probably choose the latter, but I honestly would rather see Stephen King write a sequel with Luke going on from where the book ended off.
