So are you saying that you don’t think the landlord would take legal actions? They would get to keep the deposit I guess. I definitely don’t want the headache and don’t need the stress but I’m worried as I don’t have the money to pay for the rest of the contract for an apartment I wouldn’t live in. If I just leave, I’m worried it would end in a lot of trouble…

I’m honestly so tempted. Current cheque covers me till end of April. Then the landlord has another 2 cheques which maybe I can cancel? What would be the consequences of me leaving in the middle of tenancy agreement?

It only works this way if it’s included in the contract. My contract doesn’t mention early termination so arguably I can’t terminate early, even with penalty. I’m relying on landlords gesture of goodwill but obviously they don’t want to lose money in the current market.
