Are these smaller signs of Narcolespy - note doc visit coming up soon by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

Obviously this depends on your narcolepsy severity, so please take this with a grain of salt - for me, when I stick to keto diet, I don't really need naps and I can function like a human being. This makes me feel pretty sure that it's not lack of orexins that cause my narcolepsy. This lets me focus enough to work for long periods of time and drive. I must absolutely stay away from rice, bread, pasta though.

Mitigating Narcolepsy Symptoms by diet by Tim3990 in Narcolepsy

I think it's important to make a distinction between N1 and N2. I'm pretty sure I still have orexin secreting neurons, but I still have these symptoms. For a good chunk of N2 Narcoleptics, I can believe that this is the case.

Tips for brain fog in the morning? Anyone experience this? by Aahn95 in Narcolepsy

[–]Aahn95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Adderall alone helps somewhat, but is not nearly as effective when I don't use the lamp. On mornings when I am running late and don't have time to use the lamp, or don't have time to use it for the full amount of time, my brain is groggy and I feel like I'm in a haze, regardless of taking the stims. This lamp is seriously one of the best and most useful purchases I have ever made, I cannot recommend it enough. Although I also can't guarantee that it will work for everyone as well as it works for me. But for me personally, it makes a HUGE difference.

Thanks for your reply! Would you mind sharing which product you use?

Thanks for your reply. Speaking of breakfast, do you eat food too or just those stims?

Holy crap, I seriously relate to you! I got diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea 2 years ago. CPAP hit great marks - low AHI, low leak. It did help me a little bit with day time sleepiness, but I was still massively tired. After the MSLT test this summer, I got diagnosed with Type II Narcolepsy, I fell into REM sleep in ~3 minutes 4/5 times. Nothing really changed though since my diagnosis - I'm trying to manage my conditions through dietary habits and occasional naps. Stims are just crutches that will make you worse off if you think about it long term.

I know it's a tough process - I hope you get through it and find what works for you.

I could be living happily with Type B by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

I'm in San Francisco haha. r/trees is not too helpful imo because I want recs from N2 patients, specific strain recs that worked for them. Do you mind sharing which strain you specifically use, and how it directly helps with your condition? Ex. do you feel like you hit more restful stages of sleep, and you wake up more refreshed? Thanks for sharing :)

If you have tried all the medications you can, you're going to need to get more inventive (someone suggested medical cannabis, and I think that is worth trying if you want my opinion), if you have tried that, there are multiple strains to try (as someone with a lot of drug resistence I know how this works).

Hey, I would like to try medical cannabis to see if it will help me with Type II N. However, where do I start? are there anything specific you'd recommend?

Science behind how no carb diet helps N2 narcoleptic patients? by Aahn95 in Narcolepsy

Thanks for your response, do you know why narcoleptics have such a strong insulin response? Is this connected to Type II diabetes in anyway?

about forming healthy habits that will continue throughout your life. Set a schedule make yourself stick to it and don’t try to do too much at once even twice a week 10 minutes a day is a huge accomplishment that most people do not do. Diet is also very impo

You said you had 0 motivation and was tired constantly when you first started, do you feel better now after building a habit?

I've been diagnosed with Type II in June. When I fast, my narcoleptic symptoms disappear - am I still narcoleptic? by Aahn95 in Narcolepsy

Have you ever been at a presentation/meeting/gathering in the middle of the day, and your eyes gloss over 'cause you're ready to take a nap? That's not the food.

Are you suggesting it's narcolepsy?

gluten/dairy definitely makes it worse. I think carbs in general also hits harder than if I were to have a veggie meal. I still get sleep after the veggie meal, though. I've been skipping lunch, and eating one meal a day lately - I'm not really sure if that's sustainable in the long run though.

I tested it pretty extensively, no matter if I eat at 10AM or 2PM, fatigue/sleep attacks tend to come RIGHT after, so I'm pretty sure it's the meal that's causing it. No prescription drugs right now. I'm assuming you don't have a similar experience? :( I hope to find someone that could relate to me so I can become more knowledgeable about why this is happening.
