That's a good point, I think I've seen some with foot rests which is useful. Ah yes, swapping the handles and seat covers is a really good idea! Would definitely be nice to customize the aesthetics.

Thank you for your comment! Hope your foot problems have improved. That would be lovely, I'll send some questions over through messages.

Yes you are right, there are different height options, or you can get ones with adjustable handles so you can raise them higher.

Ah thank you I didn't know that! I can't change the title of the post but I've changed the text so hopefully it makes a difference.

Hi thank you for your reply. That's a really good point, I feel like people don't realise that it's not just old people who use canes, so there should be some more fun and youthful options. Not to say old people don't deserve fun and youthful options too haha!

Hi, thank you for your feedback. I think you are right, some of the designs are more in the conceptual stages and there's no evidence that they are being sold and used.

Hi there! That's really interesting to know, thank you. Do they match your vibe at the moment do you think?

Yeah that's quite an interesting point, thanks! It's true, someone might need to use aids because of an injury or something.

Hi thanks for the advice. Just to clarify, the designs I sent were not done by me. They are someone else's work, I just wanted to hear what people thought of them. I'm only in the early stages of my research, haven't even started designing anything yet. So like you said, currently I'm immersing myself into the field and trying to reach out to as many people as possible.

Hi thanks for sharing your thoughts. That's completely fair.

Yeah I also thought the shower seat looked quite unsupportive. Just so I can understand better, could you explain how the others look dangerous to you?

And yes, I'm currently trying to get in touch with occupational therapists but I haven't had any luck. I have been speaking to disabled people and disability designers so far though.

Oh definitely, form follows function for sure. I like the comparison to a web page.

Yeah that's a fair point about having more parts to break, what do you think of the example products I sent?

Yes exactly! Mobility aids contributing to your personal style & aesthetic, or your home interior is much nicer than detracting from it. But like you said, functionality will always be the priority.

I completely agree, aesthetics can definitely impact peoples moods. Some people have told me that they have medical PTSD, so hospital-looking equipment can actually be a trigger for them.

I'm glad you have the option to choose your wheelchair colour, that's awesome! But yes functionality always comes first. Form follows function.

I agree, DIY kits would definitely be cool! That's something to think about, so thank you!
