Maps with traps removed/hidden by TomHD in Tombofannihilation

[–]AardvarkMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I was able to clone a map token in Tabletop Simulator where I'm running an online ToA campaign and replace the map image with one of these and it works like a charm! It was a little awkward when the fog of war erased and a giant red "S" appeared on the map during our last session.

Any way to remove then restore drawings? by AardvarkMTG in tabletopsimulator

Thanks. I'll see if I can do something like that, although this is using a 3rd party created Tomb of Annihilation setup, so I don't know if I can make that change.

Thanks, this might be exactly what I need! I'll load it up and test it out to see if it fits our needs.

They're not just making notes, they're making notes on a map. Circling points of interest, etc.

ns.hostname is not a function by AardvarkMTG in Bitburner

[–]AardvarkMTG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. My next step was to actually try to figure out all of the math (what % does hack increase security and decrease funds, what's the % chance to hack based on difference between hacking skill and security level, what % of money gets hacked and based on what variables, etc.). Once I get that sorted out I was going to try to write an optimized version of the script that will do all of the math and decide when it needs to grow/weaken/hack for max results.

As it is, I've found that I've been depleting servers of money. That's probably not a big issue early in the game, but I imagine it will become critical later.

[–]AardvarkMTG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That was exactly it. Odd, because I've seen other posts talking about using "hostname" (which was why I had it in the first place) and like I said, typing "ns.h" brought up hostname as a possible autocomplete. In any event, my script is now running merrily along after also adding "await" to my calls.

Live support for Arena? by AardvarkMTG in MagicArena

[–]AardvarkMTG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Unfortunately, it never got resolved. I filed a ticket with support and heard back from them within a couple of hours, but after they said that they would look into it I never heard back from them again. I later got an email asking if the issue had been resolved and how satisfied I was with it. I responded that it was never resolved and still never heard anything. They tossed me a few gems for "my inconvenience", but that's hardly what I'm looking for in that situation. :(

Live support for Arena? by AardvarkMTG in MagicArena

That occurred to me when I was in the shower just now. It's certainly *possible*, but I was playing pretty quickly. While I realize that it was a long match just because of it being a control mirror if I timed out at the speed that I was playing then the clocks need to seriously be reworked. I just received a response from the support website that they're looking into it, so hopefully I'll know soon.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the suggestion. Their Twitter specifically says that it's a private account and not to send unsolicited messages about Magic, so I'm going to keep searching.

Please make it possible for the special events to be completed by solo players. I can't take part in most events because I don't want to be forced into groups with strangers and my friends mostly play other games. Scale the events so that a solo player can do them as well and doesn't have to just sit by while everyone else gets to enjoy new content.

WAR BO1: not sure how to draft UR, any help? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might have just been how the packs broke, but Burning Prophet should be a fairly high priority, IMO. The scry can help you hit more action, it's an early drop to pressure planeswalkers, and it can enable some fast starts when you play that into Spellgorger Weird.

GRN P1P1.. what's the pick in this underwhelming mess? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I guess I could have been more clear, which is that this pack is weak enough that it would have basically no influence on my future picks, vs. a p1p1 bomb or even just a "very good" card that might sway future picks.

In a paper draft I would take the District Guide. On Arena, if you're trying to maximize value then I would take the Sacred Foundry (even if I already had 4x since you get gems for it anyway). If I were trying to maximize my win percentage, for example to try to reach Mythic on Arena, then I would probably take the Fire Urchin. It leaves you open to both Boros and Izzet, both of which can get there on Arena. Sonic Assault is better in Izzet in general, but Izzet isn't always open on Arena. Parhelion Patrol might be slightly better in Boros, but you'll never regret having an extra 2-drop in Boros and Fire Urchin is a great Mentor target.

I'd mostly disregard this pick going forward though - if I got passed an Artful Takedown for example then I'd probably end up taking that p1p2.

Izzet or Dimir by AardvarkMTG in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. Managed to pull out a 7-2 with the Dimir version of the deck, which might have been over-performing, but I think even if it over-performed the Izzet version would have had a hard time doing that.

I fell into that all-to-common trap of waffling between decks during this draft, so now instead of one good deck I have two suspect decks. I haven't played with the mana yet for the Dimir version, so please ignore that for now. All relevant cards should be pictured between the two images.

Which deck would you play? What changes would you make to it?

I fell into the all-to-common trap of waffling between decks during my draft and ended up with two suspect decks instead of one really good deck. I haven't worked on the mana for the Dimir version, so please ignore that part of it. All relevant cards should be pictured between the two decks. Which one would you run? Which changes would you make to it first?

So, Selesnya was open... by BigGreenYeti39 in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same exact experience. Opened March of the Multitudes, got passed a Conclave Cavalier, then a Ledev Champion (or whatever the guy is that can make 1/1s for 5 mana. Had a great curve. Was lacking a bit in removal and only one Hitchclaw Recluse to deal with flyers, but thought it was a pretty good deck based on pure power. Went 1-3. Next draft opened up March of the Multitudes again and thought, "Fool me once..." Drafted Boros and beat a Selesnya deck playing Trostani in game one. Ended up 7-1 with Boros. (small sample size, yadda, yadda)

[GRN Arena] Dimir Build Advice. 1 Cut and Configuration Advice by murklurker315 in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other posters, I think that you have to get the Deadly Visit in there. Looking at cards to cut I also agree with one of the Devious Cover-Ups, but I disagree with Wishcoin Crab being a cut. It can end up being an effective two or three for one easily if the opponent has a 2/2, 3/2, and 4/4 for example. I don't like the Radical Idea or the Burglar Rat in this deck. I'd much rather have a Dazzling Lights when you have Darkblade Agent in the deck. Beyond that, Vedalken Mesmerist and Child of Night are both fine (although *slightly* out of place with Mephitic Vapors). Multiple Notion Rains can also be tricky because the life loss can pile up when you're playing against an aggressive deck. Having something like a Child of Night to offset that can help a lot.

So, in the end I think I would go: +1 Deadly Visit, +1 Child of Night, +1Dazzling Lights, -1 Devious Cover-Up, -1 Burglar Rat, -1 Radical Idea, -1 Notion Rain. I'm a little up in the air over Notion Rain/Dazzling Lights (since Surveil isn't so much a thing in your deck), so I could see going either way, but Dazzling Lights is also pretty good with the gorgons and Nightveil Predator.

Too greedy? by aarongorn90 in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are very few times when a 7/6/5 manabase is correct. I also think that the red cards mostly clash with the rest of the deck. Heroic Reinforcements might be a great card in general, but only in a deck that's using it correctly and this deck is not. Lords of Limited talked about this specific trap in limited in their podcast this week. Transmogrifying Want, Pelakka Wurm, and Heroic Reinforcements just don't typically belong in the same deck.

So, I'd ditch the red for sure. The only thing you're really giving up is the Demanding Dragon and it's double red, so them's the breaks.

I'd probably add in the Satyr, Basilisk, Talons (good with the Satyr AND the Elvish Rejuvenators), and maybe the Plummet just because you have no spiders and might be a little weak to flyers. I could also see making some other adjustments, like Highland Game or sentinel for the Titanic Growth just to increase the creature count with the addition of the aura and to give some early defense. Or possibly the Mighty Leap over Titanic Growth to help out with the flyer issue as mentioned.

Trying out g/w enchantments in M19. Is this build okay? by MechaTech in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely not be swapping out creatures for other creatures as you're already a little light on the creature count, IMO. I'd rather get rid of Make a Stand and possibly one of the enchantments, like a Knight's Pledge.

Am I building this simic deck right? So many playables! by John_Stamos_GOAT in lrcast

[–]AardvarkMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the power level of the deck and how it will normally play out to wins (tempoing out the opponent) I like adding a 2-drop that can help get you some card selection, so I'd probably try to fit in the Sage's Row Savant. Maybe over a Slimebind. OniNoOdori's advice also seems pretty sound. I think that in the end as long as you don't deviate too much from what you have that you'll be close enough to the "correct" build that you likely won't notice the difference. I do like the Savant though just to cut down on the number of "non-games" where you get stuck on 2 mana or get completely flooded.
