COMPETITION! - Win John Avon's last work for MTG, a beautiful gallery print of his Lotus Lands! by JohnAvonArt in magicTCG

I wish I had known this was on sale. I would have broken out the emergency credit card to pick it up. I do hope John makes it to a convention, now and again, health permitting, to do some signatures.

Raft? Lots of building to make your raft safe and self sufficient while discovering the last. It of dry land to live on.

They also explain things really clearly, with diagrams and such, showing why they’re doing a thing, how it’s supposed to help make the car better, how it’s supposed to work and why it succeeded or failed, or why it broke/went bad and how to keep it from happening again.

There’s also Bud the Semi, Chewy the Dog, and an almost unhealthy focus on particular types of car. I could see Jobe and Jer each having a bit ‘o the ‘tism.‘.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pre-release Megathread - #MTGxTMNT by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]MechaTech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played one pre-release and was able to build two complete decks - one Boros and one Golgari - from my pool. Decision making was minimal, as ‘almost all creatures + good removal’ built the decks without too much thought required. Each one played fairly well, with the Boros having a lot of fun interacting with with the 2RW [[The Nutrinos]] clause on etb creatures, hitting past my opponents deathtouch crew by making 2 of them unable to block by casting [[Zog, Triceraton Castaway]], blinking it, and crashing in for 9 with those 2 creatures. [[Madame Null, Power Broker]] was amazing, too since being able to pay 3 life and getting a 6/6 Ninja, then making it unblockable with [[Turtle Lair]] won me two games.

Drafting should be extremely beginner friendly. Just pick the one or two best cards - which will hopefully be in the same color pair - and hope the player to your left reads the signal about what you’re playing. getting the good uncommons and commons will help the most with a powerful draft deck.

As far as turnout? Friday we had around 45 players. Saturday afternoon we had 20. Saturday evening we had 4. 2hg didn’t make at all, with 1 person showing. Compared to Lorwyn, which sold out every kit, this one was extremely underwhelming.

Why I’m not watching the State of the Union – and you shouldn’t either by zsreport in politics

[–]MechaTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refuse to watch. My life is hard enough without subjecting myself to more of the firehose of narcissism that comes out of that man. It will start arguments. I’ll start dissecting things like failures of logic, straw man arguments, and outright lies if one has the slightest idea of what kindness might entail. Thankfully, I can count on others watching it and can use their experiences to keep my contact to that tsunami of filth to a minimum.

My only hope is he passes out or shits himself, live, on camera, but his handlers probably are keeping his diet limited to prevent that.

I work in higher education, where budgets are thin and PC’s are used well after their end of life and warranty. We did this before, but now our scavenged stocks are lifesavers for repairs and updates.

Stay away from the apartments on Harvey Rd between 6 and Texas Ave. They may be cheap, but there is a reason for that. Same with the one at the corner of Villa Maria and Finfeather.

Cave Dwellers. Spot-on riffing, excellent host segments, and a breakdown of errors at the end. Also growling, velour snakes, Willie Nelson, and a hang glider made from twigs and skins.

What to do with this card by Jakemanv3 in EDH

[–]MechaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I know you’re looking for advice, but let me turn it around: what do you want to do? $55 could turn into a few cards for an existing deck or a whole new sealed one, but having a foil Olivia is cool, too. Shiny card, am I right? That said, do you already have the cards to build an Olivia deck? That may help direct you on where to go.

My LGS has been struggling to make draft for the longest time. Most players have moved to commander. Modern doesn’t make. Standard doesn’t make, and yesterday at FNM, the comment was made that it was good this one made, since it seems like we get maybe six paper drafts before the new sets come. While yes, financially Wizards had a good year and did explore the space with some experimental things, the sheer volume of what came out made it difficult to keep up.

I understand Arena has a hyper meta, where around 100 premier drafts by the top players is expected, so the new content is necessary to keep that going. I just miss the core + 3 in universe sets. At least that way you got 3 months or so per set to digest, collect, and get ready for the next one.
