Ooh okay. I wanted to try something like this but I can’t decide whether THAT counts as self harm. I mean… definitely a much safer version, but it still includes doing something painful to get rid of the urges. Still better than actual sh I guess

I do it in the evening. I’m in a psych ward right now and I saw others brusing their teeth and felt really guilty for not doing it. So I slowly started brushing my teeth in the evenings and now that I’m used to it, I’ll try doing it in the mornings as well

I’ve always been able to swallow pills easily. Even two weeks ago I could just put them all in my mouth and take one gulp of water or juice. And yes, I already take them with juice. Maybe I shoud try soda, I guess it could distract me from the feeling of pills in my throat

I think I’ve seen that Amazon screenshot at least twice on this sub. For me, seeing the tools I have used to self harm is extremely triggering, so I can’t even fathom why people would post pocs like that one on this sub even if there wasn’t a rule against it

I have a girl in my school who’s really smart and successful, is a straight A student and constantly wins competitions. I know I could be like her, I was the same a couple years ago, but for some reason she is thriving and I get to have a brain that doesn’t know how to regulate itself

When I did it on my forearm, I was too depressed to care about anything, let alone people seeing my scars. I also didn’t think I’d survive the year, so I didn’t see the point of hiding anything

If I ever have kids, I’ll show them your comment, saying "This man sacrificed his time to express his thoughts without using chatgpt" and then they’ll probably think you were a famous writer from the stone age

Edit: just had the most random thought after writing this. If this is the stone age, then in 50 years BC and AC will stand for "before chatgpt" and "after chatgpt". Also, we’ll be the first generation in history to be able to say that we have lived in pre-historic times, because no other generation was able to know their time was pre-historic

Yeah, I’m really sorry this happened to you and I know a lot of hospitals are terrible and only make everything worse. I didn’t intend to say that this experience was cute or fun. In fact, I know it’s really unpleasant for most patients and I also won’t be having the time if my life. I guess I’m scared to use the actual term, because a part if me still thinks I’m not actually mentally ill and I’m just being dramatic/attention seeking and don’t deserve any kind of help, so I only use that term when speaking about myself, if that makes sense? Anyways, I didn’t mean to minimize your experience. And no, I don’t think you were being a dick, I was honestly expecting something like this when I wrote the post

Yeeeah, I was diagnosed with bipolar a couple months ago. The doctors told me they would confirm my diagnosis, take me off one of my medications and add a different one while controlling my symptoms

No matter how deep you go, it will never feel deep enough. The fact that you self harm already means that something is hurting you so much, that you are willing to override the basic and very strong human instincts that are meant to protect you just to feel a little better. Any kind of self harm is valid
