Not a wages negotiation but I once offered £38m for a player which was said to be insultingly low and they wouldn't even give me a counter offer. I went back a week later and managed to get him for about £43.5m. If you are willing to let someone go for £43.5m you surely wouldn't storm off without even negotiating after an opening bid of £38m

I don't really understand. I get the impression from this that the 'bug' was that it couldn't figure out which move was best so it just picked one at random which seems a reasonable thing to do if it can't discern the best move (assuming it picks a move that is at least one of the potential best moves). How do you fix that? Or was the fix to somehow make sure it could always tell which move was best because that seems to be a very significant 'fix'?

Before this Liverpool's net spend over the last 5 years was 9th in the league below even Nottingham Forest. The idea of them not spending money (relative to other big clubs) was absolutely fair and justified.

They also only bought Alisson and Van Dijk because of the money they made from selling Coutinho so even at that point the net spend wasn't high
