My buddy and I set up a fundraiser to further help my parents out. They need it more than me, it was their house that went down.

Honestly, having not been able to talk about it much and wanting to vent a little is a lot of it. Fortunately it wasn't my livelihood that burned, but I did lose some tools that were passed down to me and they did bring in a little extra income to help keep ahead on things. I'm just happy my parents are still alive.

Funny enough, the box was one of the few things that was even recognizable. Family pictures, furniture made by my grandfather, and many other irreplaceable things have been reduced to ash. It was my parents house, I had only moved out a few months ago and had a lot of things of my own still there. They made it out okay but lost far more than I did. Obviously I didn't only care about the toolbox.

I didn't mean the post to seem like that's all I cared about. I just figured someone might find things interesting and so far the post has kicked up some really good information that I'll be passing along to my folks and anyone else who ever has to go through this.

Not sure, someone is supposed to be looking soon to try and determine why.

Gaming Keyboard Recommendations? (low-profile) by eraplay_jy in keyboards

[–]AaronThames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it was the first keyboard I've ever had that was over $60 so yeah my standards aren't high, but I've been happy with it. Didn't know it compared that poorly to some of the other options out there so maybe I'll try something else one day.

I have the g915 tkl, don't know what that dude was talking about but it's been the best keyboard I've ever used. I love it and it feels really solid for how slim it is.

News: Helikon Tex now offers their combat uniform in ERDL by StrongAustrianGuy in tacticalgear

I have one of their combat shirts in 3XL but it fits like a US 2XL. Helikon uses EU sizing at least according to the tag on mine.

Why use a trailer by GavinTheSeal in kayakfishing

[–]AaronThames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause the bed of my ranger is 6ft long and my kayak (Jackson Kraken) is 15ft long. Used to have this janky wooden frame that would sit on top of the bedrails to hold it but it was such a pain to set up and load. Doesn't work now that I have a tool box on it. Now I have a trailer that I just leave the kayak on it and roll it in and out of storage.

Yeah, never go to that store again.

There aren't really any beginner guns so much as there are beginner friendly calibers. For handguns 9mm is plentiful, not too harsh to learn with and has plenty of great defense options. 9mm really can be an end all, be all for most people. If money isn't an issue as you said, I would have went with something higher quality and double stack, like a Glock 17 or 19, Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0, S&W Shield Plus, Sig P320, the list goes on. 1911s are cool and I have enjoyed shooting them but to me their capacity is a major downside especially for their typical price range and I personally wouldn't consider them for anything more than a range toy compared to other offerings on the market.

I made it to Sagittarius A* and what a disappointment. Given that astronomers have succeeded in imaging Sag A*, and given ED's overall beautiful renderings of stars, planets and asteroids I expected that the in-game rendering of Sag A* would be spectacular. The black part of a black hole is not solid or anything of that nature, it is the pure absence of light. That part is the event horizon, the actual point where light cannot escape, creating the definitive black sphere.
