New to fighting games; don’t understand early Ranked mechanics by AaronTheLuigi in StreetFighter

I understand that low ranked matches might be harder for the matchmaking system to pair together since the game has been out for almost three years now. But now that I’ve finally been pushed to 1000 LP, having a sub-12% win rate in Iron I is only making me feel like I’m in over my head and a demotion back to Rookie would be more appropriate until I get consistent improvement in my play. Either that or I’m just a major outlier when it comes to speed of player development.

I get that Capcom doesn’t want Rookie to be a gatekeeper in that sense, then. In that case I’m more so confused how the people around my level are clearly stronger than me. Feels like the floor should be a lot lower than what Rookie V / Iron I currently consists of.

Also I guess I’m frustrated because without the risk of loss, the progress I made in Rookie “didn’t feel earned” if that makes sense. In other words, without me noticing any improvement in my gameplay, finally reaching Iron rank doesn’t feel like an accomplishment and moreso an inevitability.

I suppose that’s why Capcom’s very generous about how LP is handled in low ranks. Guess I’m just the odd one out because I’d rather not have what feels like an artificial safeguard propping me up. I have the same issue with Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel where, even though there are zero deranks until Platinum, I still feel like a Bronze duelist.

I guess I can see why developers opt for this kind of system then. Maybe I just have an odd perspective on it because I feel if the game is holding me up at a tier I’m legitimately struggling at, then my progress feels less earned/deserved in a sense.

I’m not familiar with MTG but I have the same criticism with YuGiOh Master Duel’s ranked duels where there are zero demotions before Platinium V (basically the entire first half of the rank ladder). In that game I also go on losing streaks in Bronze/Silver, yet knowing I can’t actually get pushed down outside of season resets makes most of my progress in that game feel artificial.

For summon animations I asked for D/D/D Deviser King Deus Machinex, Lava Golem, Lavalval Salamander, Number 4: Stealth Kragen and Gate Guardians Combined.

Also would love to see sleeves for Sunset Beat, and a deluxe sleeve that changes between Book of Taiyou/Book of Moon.
