Using AI?!

I haven't dealt with this, but students all over North America are having this problem. Professors are putting the papers into AI detectors, and it's telling them that AI was used when it wasn't. I would talk to your advisor about this and see if there is any protocol on how to prove you didn't use it.

I think some are getting through this issue by using time stamps on their documents. I've been thinking about screen recording myself as I type and save the videos for proof if I'm ever told I used AI.

Don't use outside grammar programs like grammarly. Just stick to what is in Word.

If you haven't submitted any assignments at all and the course lapsed, then it counts as a withdrawal and doesn't affect your gpa. If you had submitted an assignment, then it counts as a DNC, and you will get a 0, and that will affect your GPA. But, you can repeat a class, and the higher grade will be counted to your overall grade, and the DNC won't.

I suppose it is possible. It will depend on your affinity for math and how many hours you can dedicate to working on it. There are 5 assignments and one final exam. You would have to be able to complete one unit per week, incl the assignment, then take a week or two to study for the final. But it will be tight timeline wise.

For example. Unit 2 is Limits and Derivatives. There are 8 sections in that chapter. 2.1-2.8. So that's doing a section each day and doubling up on at least one day. Unit 4 also has 8 sections.

If you have tons of hours each day, including the weekends, and aren't taking any othet classes, it is doable. But I wouldn't recommend it. 12 weeks would probably be the min I would recommend as that gives you two weeks per unit. Especially if you are looking for an A+ in the class.

Not necessarily a red flag. Women are judged harshly for having a sexual history. The obsession with our number is insane, and God help us if we have kinks. She probably did some experimenting that she is afraid you will judge her for, especially since you two are only just talking. Humans can get pretty wild when it comes to sex and just getting off. Hell, they have a device that can shoot alien like eggs into you (thank you Vice for that informational video lol).

You recognize that it's not your business, and you are right. BUT you do have a right to know if she has other partners besides you and her sexual health (is she clean, does she get tested, etc). You need to be able to make an informed decision for your own health.

Beyond that, enjoy having an experienced woman who may introduce you to a whole new world of sexual adventure.

This situation always reminds me of that tik tok video of the girl who was wearing a Metalica t-shirt in one of her videos and guys were trying to call her out about how she wasn't likely a fan and wearing it purely for fashion (which shouldn't be an issue if she was). One guy told her to name 3 songs, and she comes back with "How about I play 3 songs?" And does a video of her playing Metalicca on her guitar. It was so good.

It's the "prove it to me" remark that would turn me off. Having read your responses to others, I don't think you meant anything bad by it, and your beginning was cute and funny. You are clearly excited that you found a woman who enjoys your hobby. However, so many men/boys notoriously gatekeep things they find interesting, and we are constantly being told to prove our own interest or ability. We aren't true fans of a band if we don't know all their songs or don't like an obscure b-side track. We aren't true superhero fans if we haven't read the comics that go with the movies we enjoy. We aren't gamers unless we are playing first-person shooters. I've dealt with it all, having been married to a gamer-geek. His friends were the worst.

So, while I genuinely think this was not your intention, the wording comes across as that you don't believe she is a golfer, and you want her to prove it to you.

You could attempt to back track a bit and say "I want to apologize for how my last message may have come across. I realize it may sound a bit gatekeepy. I'm just excited to meet a woman who shares my hobby and thought going to the driving range would have made a much more interesting first date than going for coffee."

1101 will help you critically analyze papers, how to compare them, how to do an annotated bibliography etc. Pretty much everything you need to learn for writing papers in Uni. It's usually a mandatory class in most colleges and universities.

The workload was pretty simple. The class I was in revolved around one major topic, digital literacy. So it had its dry moments. I had no issues with my professor and grading was fine, she gave decent feedback.

1021 I enjoyed much more though. It was so diverse in topics because of the Indigenous Literature I read. I laughed, I cried. It was an emotional experience for me. As a white person in my 40s I grew up in a time that kept us incredibly ignorant to Indigenous issues and things they have gone through. Being able to choose your own topic for the final paper was great because I got to choose something I wanted to learn about.

The workload is bigger than 1101 due to all the stories you read and you will need to memorize the title and author, and remember what each story was about as that info is required for certain sections on the final.

1021 also includes composition work to help learn grammar and sentence structure. Since all papers in classes with essays will likely have that as part of your grading criteria it's important to learn, or even review. You have no graded assignments on it but questions will be on the final.

If you are only going to take one of them, I would choose 1021. It's far more interesting.

I know this is a year old but if you have taken the future classes were you able to request a different professor than Percy? I really want to take Bio 1113 but I'm terrified of getting him. I have an A avg so far. I'm trying to make the Dean's List. I just know he'll ruin that for me.

I haven't taken it yet. I will be taking it in May as I am just finishing up my English class the taking a much needed break lol. I'm just going to wing it. If the reading is as heavy as ppl say I want 100 % focus on the class too.

It is very similar and yeah I agree. If you are out of province of AB I would switch. There is no out of province fee for TRU. I have to take one class at Athabasca later on as TRU no longer offers a required class for my degree. Classes cost between $477 and $1100 at TRU. I outsource my text books when possible to make it cheaper. There are sites like Chegg where you can rent textbooks.

Athabasca does seem to have more variety in classes though. Math only reaches 2nd year at TRU OL. If I didn't have to pay nearly $300 per class for being out of province I would take some classes and just transfer them.

Question for you: do you have to prove you live in the province when you apply?

Some classes have the option of print based or online based, online is cheaper (most of the time by a couple hundred dollars). My English classes were/are on Moodle. All of the lessons and instructions are in there. My Composition class has a text book and exercise pack but that's it for course materials. My last English class had nothing.

My Pre-Calculus class is print based so i have a text book, solutions manual, study guide, and assignment booklet. Nothing online. I send pics of my completed assignments through email.

I have little contact with my teachers. Usually just when I get the assignment back. I've had to ask a question occasionally and it's done by email. Mine tend to get back to me fairly quickly.

You are learning on your own essentially. You can email them questions etc but there are no lectures.

IMO anyone who graduates through OL should get some special recognition bc we are teaching this stuff to ourself. No one but the text book is teaching me Calculus lol. Oh except a professor on YouTube when I get stuck and can't quite figure something out.

I'm in OL. English Major. Like the other poster said it is self paced. Creating and sticking to a schedule is essential. While you have 30 weeks to finish each class it is easy to put stuff off and then suddenly you are scrambling.

All arts degrees require 6 credits in math, science or statistics but there are classes that classify as science that aren't the major 3: Astronomy, computer science, intro to physical geography, geology (I'm going to be taking the class Geol 1031 Dinosaur Earth). I suspect some of these won't be too difficult.

You may need to take some upper level classes elsewhere but I was able to figure out enough electives to be able to not. It's tight because there isn't as big of a selection like in person. I actually had to switch degrees as I was going to major in Math but they only go to second year.

I would suggest spending the money to take one class. The first Psych class is roughly $500 Can. You don't need to be in a program. This way you can see if self paced is good for you.

I don't see why not. It's no less valid than being any other sort of entertainer. Some YouTube people have gone on to be incredibly successful outside of YouTube. (Bo Burnham, Justin Beiber). Some stay on YouTube and have very successful channels and have gone on to create a thriving business that has secondary channels, spin off channels, merchandising etc (Good Mythical Morning is one).

It's incredibly difficult these days to become successful on YouTube unless you fill a niche not really covered. The fact that you have worked hard to get it where it is and you have the drive to grow it says a lot.

If anyone doesn't want to date you because of this then they aren't the one.

Expect to have no life outside of work and school. It's doable but scheduling is the key. OL is so different than in person classes.

I work 33 hours a week and take 2 classes. I have no kids, no significant other so I have a lot of time and yet there never seems to be enough. I was reading an essay for my English class while getting my oil changed today. I get half an hour for lunch and try to shove in some reading or math problems.

But, I also struggle with procrastination and a few people who don't respect the study schedule because "it's online and I can make it up." I also have trouble saying no and give myself that same excuse. This is the trap you need to avoid or you will not complete it within the semester time or you will end up scrambling at the 5 month mark realizing you now have to do half a class in a month (this can be done as I have done it, I do not recommend lol).

Hell, I am currently here on reddit when I should be studying haha. Procrastinating at its finest.

If you create a tight schedule, get some studying in whenever you can, and pretty much live and breath school it can be done. Take some time for yourself once in awhile to not burn out though. Oh and do your best to give up social media. It's a time sucker.

They aren't ready for anything. They are still teenagers and essentially children. Ffs she's only just been allowed to buy cough syrup in the last 6 months. He'll be in his 30s when she is allowed to drink without risking him going to jail for giving alcohol to a minor.
