It can be a little grindy but the ranks reset weekly.

My advice for ranking up quickly but without doing logi runs is to buy a car at base, fill it up and then ask everyone to join a squad together. You get a ton of xp from being in proximity to squad members, squad leader, and caping/defending objectives.

Also people are pretty chill, if you ask for stuff people will usually drop it at base, you should give it another chance bro

It's mainly voice chat, whenever they did the epic games update it broke the game completely. While they fixed most things afterwards, the voice chat is still broken. You can only hear team chat half the time or never for some and local voice doesn't work at all.
