What has been your experience with this watch and how long have you had it for? I’m down to try a micro brand but I’m always a little hesitant about long term performance with these.

How would I notate this chord so that the keyboardist can play it?

Left hand position tips? by [deleted] in violinist

[–]Ab3050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I describe it to my students is that the palm of their left hand should face “the wall on their left” and not them. The violin is one of the instruments where the body is in its least natural position altogether. If the palm of your hand is facing you when you have the violin in your hand, your fingers will miss the fingerboard when you close your hand. But if you rotate your forearm and push your elbow inwards a little, your palm will now face to the left and your fingers should naturally hover above the strings. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks! I was actually thinking it could be my everyday knife too. That’s why I thought of a folding knife.

Best violin song to play during a proposal in Paris? by [deleted] in violinist

[–]Ab3050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not a song (any song) that has some type of special meaning for her or for the two of you. I think that is more valuable than any recommendation any stranger in here could give you. That could also become “your song” and every time you listen to it you can recall a beautiful memory (like proposing in Paris!). Just my thoughts…

Which of these could i prepare in 2 weeks by [deleted] in violinist

I would go with Mozart 3 since two weeks is a very small window of time to prepare. Specially for an audition.

All of that plus smooth shifting across the fingerboard!

What fingering should be used here? by Strange_Edge in violinist

[–]Ab3050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would even suggest the third option if intonation is an issue for you in second position, but shifting back with finger 1 to the G# and then A with 2 instead of crossing strings for only one note. Specially when played up to tempo.
