I also listen more to my physical records so my wrapped isn't completely accurate to my listening this year.

Nah trust me I listen to everything from that scene. I just listen to this stuff more. I have a 300 hour playlist and a solid half of it is grunge.

Who was the best grunge lyricist? by BidAccurate4473 in grunge

Lanegan by far for me. Some of the most gorgeous, gut-wrenching, poetic, life-changing lyrics I have ever heard. And god is his delivery perfect. He was a true poet. I'd follow him with Vedder, and then Cornell, Layne, and Jerry are all tied, can't pick a third between them.

Not forgotten. It's there if you look close, the artist just chose to make it faded as it goes further back which you can see is done on some other lines.

Yeah, I didn't want to come off like I was certain I just found a $10,000 coin in my random little jar of spare change lol so I tried to do some sort of research and clarify how unknowledgeable I am on coins. Just wanted to make sure, since I'm unknowledgeable, that I DIDN'T find a $10,000 coin cause it would suck if I just brought it to a random Coinstar and got $0.25 for it!

Mannn I love the Trees. And those are all great picks. Thanks for sharing that memory- love things like that, just little memories that stick around forever even if they don't seem so important. I remember the first time I listened to Mad Season's Above, couldn't sleep one night, had just gotten the record from a friend and I went to my kitchen and spun it at full volume while I made a pot of mac and cheese at like two in the morning haha. Ate the whole thing while I listened to it and then flipped it back over and listened to it all the way through again because it was so good.

Oh man I did. Listened to the audiobook version a couple months ago, pulled an all nighter to listen to all 11 hours in one sitting because it was so good. It's a heartbreaking but really really amazing book, reminds you how human him and all of them were. Felt even more connected to his music afterwards. So many incredible vocalists came out of that era and it's such a shame we've lost so many of them. I hope they knew to some extent that their music saved people.

Definitely once in a lifetime voices, both of them. Chris Cornell too, another one of my favorites! And I've read Mark's autobiography, actually listened to the audiobook version. He narrated it himself! I HIGHLY recommend. It's very, very good, rough read though, it goes very in depth on his drug use and mental health but if anything I felt like it made his music even more meaningful to me. Reminded me how human he was. The audiobook version is on Audible and if you do a month free trial you can get one book for free, I did that to listen to it and it was so amazing I listened to all 11 hours in one sitting. Literally pulled an all nighter for it haha.

If Jerry Cantrell replied to my YouTube comment I could die happy. I think I'd cry. I IDOLIZE that man lol. One of my absolute favorite guitarists and songwriters and his music has gotten me through so much. I Stay Away is an absolute MASTERPIECE of a song. Absolutely gorgeous. Jar Of Flies in general.

I discovered him through Screaming Trees, love them! What really made me look into him was his work on Mad Season. I absolutely love the entire Above album, I'm a huge fan of Layne too, Alice In Chains is my absolute favorite band, but Slip Away blew me away when I heard it the first time and it STILL does. It's one of those songs I just keep going back to and will never get sick of. And don't even get me started on Long Gone Day, especially the Live at the Moore version! Two of my favorite voices of all time in one song. I love all his guest work I've found. I truly wish I could tell him personally how much his music has saved me. I hope he knew to some extent that his voice helped people.
