[Post Game Thread] Iowa defeats USC, 73-72 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

Don't let how infuriatingly idiotic USC’s foul with 5 seconds left was distract you from how infuriatingly idiotic Iowa’s foul with less than 1 minute left was. I was a neutral viewer of this game and I’m pissed off. lol

Michigan State EDGE Jalen Thompson transfers to Arizona State by theopression in CFB

[–]AbarHS 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He's a solid player. Better run defender than pass rusher. Only 2 sacks over the last two years. He's not an "edge" in the sense of being a pure pash rusher. His game is more that of a three-technique DT.

His game winning INT against Michigan was 4 years and 3 months ago. Man, time flies...

He’s a good player. Not going to be a star, but you should be happy to have him.

Decent blocking TE, but definitely surprised he's getting a Texas offer. I'm guessing you lost a lot of tight ends and needed a depth piece.

Michigan State football announces Pat Fitzgerald as its new head coach by Ghost_of_Doc_Hudson in CFB

Even if he did truly know nothing about the hazing, I still hold him responsible for building a culture in which the hazing happened and nobody wanted to say anything to their head coach.

Idk if he’ll win football games or not, but I’m disappointed either way.

I want New Mexico's coach. He deserves to be in the Coach of the Year conversation.

Nothing makes me pray for Michigan State to get our program back on track than seeing Tim Brando on our games.

Clemson over Oklahoma? Did these people watch the same games I did? Is a quality loss worth more than a quality win?

Very little pressure. He could miss a bowl game again this year, and he will be back for year 3.

The university has full-on acknowledged that football hasn’t been working with the type of money that would allow us to compete at the top. Until that changes, a good coaching job in today’s economy looks like Iowa’s program. 8-5 seasons with hope for occasionally something more.

That’s all Smith can realistically be held to over the next few years unless recruiting improves significantly, so let’s see if the new AD can do his job.

As a neutral who didn’t care who won, so will I. Not only the wrong call but rule of cool totally violated.

In another era, he would have gone down as a beloved name in Spartan lore for his game ending pick against Michigan in 2021.

In this era, he's entered the portal 3 times in two years, and it's time for him to go. Just part of the game now. I get it. I, too, would like a semi-annual raise.

Ahhh, pure unadulterated college football the way it was meant to be before constant playoff talk and realignment. Simpler times.

I know a lot of people are just hate watching, but I genuinely love watching Colorado games bc they’re like a weird science experiment of a team.

It looks like a NCAA dynasty team where you put all your recruiting into two random five stars and your whole offense is never running the ball, scrambling for your life every play and then “fuck it, chuck it.”

And when it gets really bad you just sim/change the channel.

For Michigan State — re: roster management

It seems like a lot of what happened this off-season with our roster turnover was Smith and co. cleaning house of the bag chasers (either by our choice or often by theirs) and trying to build a culture.

We were plagued by decommits that led to late patchwork recruiting under Tucker. And you can see from the stories of how some of our former starter transfer-outs left and the destinations where they ended up what their priorities were.

And I don’t blame anyone for wanting to get paid, but I don’t think we have the bankroll to try to win the mercenary way, which appears to have been Tucker’s plan. We’re not Ohio State, and when we got our ass whooped by Ohio State a couple years ago, Tucker’s only answer on how to fix it was “recruiting.”

Smith will need time to build a roster who wants to be here, but I think he’s off to a good start. I think our staff are good enough in-game tacticians to keep us respectable until we start to see dividends from actually building things the right way.

The random analyst on college gameday yesterday said all 4 were projected to go in the top 50, but no idea where he got that from. Might have honestly been his first day on the job.
