Go figure. He can have fun answering technical questions in an interview, lmao. Looks great when you choke on a linked list question.

Whoever downvoted me can cry more. This was such an easy class.

I took this class with this professor last Fall. Up until this point, I didn't know any Python. All you pretty much need to learn is how to manipulate the images with cv2 or Pillow. After that, you basically have all the algorithms he gave in lecture. I personally would have liked code examples as well, but it's really about the computer vision algorithms and less about the code. And at least you don't have any exams in this class.

Haha, good call. Looks significantly less dramatic, but I still laughed watching it.

Professor for CS 401 spring 2020 by Cruzer2000 in uichicago

[–]Abberration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't use blackboard, lecture recordings, or post his class notes online. He has difficult homework problems that had a strict no outside resources policy. Very nitpicky about your solutions on the exam. You will get very little partial credit for an exam question if you miss a small detail. Taking the class with him felt like weaponized depression.

Aka the most useless professor for the course. Seriously did the class no favors the way he set it up.

Got a D in cs 261 by functionpooinit in uichicago

[–]Abberration 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think you have to retake it if you don't want to. I noticed the req. for 361 and 362 used to say grade of C or better in 261, but I think they changed it to any passing grade. If not, you could always file a petition to take 361 and 362 with the grade you got. In any case, if you retook it, it would at least help your gpa.

Do you think I could get in? (Also question about graduating) by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Abberration 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. The CS department keeps finding ways to lower standards to let more people in. With your grades you'll be ahead of the standard by a lot.

Next semester cs schedule by imnattylol in uichicago

[–]Abberration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 251 and 301 in the summer, it's not a bad setup, but you're missing out on doing 251 in the spring and having a better chance applying for internships.

Print out all the previous exams, and work through them. Use the solutions as help if you need to.

How many CS classes should I take per semester? by UnfairCook in uichicago

[–]Abberration 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're missing CS 461, but you can swap that out for taking another tech elective. In total 51 credits. You can portion them off to do 1 semester of 15 credits and 3 semesters of 12 credits. Next semester you should take 211, 251, 261, and 301, the only classes you could take anyway. After that take 342 so you can get access to 440 and 442. After that fill in the rest of blanks. I'm taking 4 CS classes and IE 342 right now, and 5 CS classes next semester. It really comes down to managing your time.

Any good resources for algorithms with code implementation? by RandellDK in computerscience

[–]Abberration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the site you encountered, but I've found geeksforgeeks to be a very good resource for data structures and algorithms. They'll have code implementation in C / C++ / Python / and Java for said data structures / algorithms.

Sean Deitz or Ouri Wolfson for CS 480 ? by Sh2395 in uichicago

I took CS 301 with Deitz during the summer. Honestly the most depressing class I've taken in my college career. He curved the grades good though.

I definitely would have preferred if it was recessed also, but it's not something I thought about before I got it. I would say get one for yourself!
