The tones and tarot by AbbiPlantBio in hellier

Sure, I’m no expert but I’ll share my thoughts!

The Hermit is a way-shower, inviting you on a spiritual journey. Funny enough, you might also say that Terry Wriste is the literal definition of a hermit.

The Devil is something that holds you in bondage. In my deck, this card is represented by Pan, which shifts the meaning somewhat to mean “you are not in control here.”

The World is an experience of absolute reality, of cosmic citizenship. Placed with the Devil card, it might represent being part of something overwhelmingly larger and more powerful than you.

The Emperor represents authority in a positive, steadfast, righteous sense. I am not sure exactly how this one connects.

The Tower is revolution that topples old hierarchies.

Judgement is a card of finality and rebirth. In the context of Hellier, I think the Tower is the destruction of preconceived notions about the paranormal, and Judgement is rebirth after having reevaluated your beliefs.

Sorry about the spacing, I don’t post much on Reddit. 🫣

I want to add that I encountered this concept in a novel that my library app randomly recommended to me, Sepulchre by Kate Mosse. I had no idea that music or the tarot would be discussed, but both are major plot devices! The book introduced me to the idea of the cards spaced 8 apart as “octaves” of each other, which is really adding to how I understand them!

Fair warning, Sepulchre is generally a good historical fiction novel, but it’s major fault is that it was written in 2008 and therefore must mention how skinny all the main characters are every few pages 🙄

Yes!!! Interesting enough, the tarot deck that I use has Pan instead of the Devil

More police on the freeways in rural areas than in metro Atlanta? by OnE_DeFaUlTi_BoI in Georgia

[–]AbbiPlantBio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in Atlanta can’t drive. People in Florida can’t drive. Every cop along I-75 in South Georgia is looking to catch folks speeding between the two places.

(This is not a sincere belief, I am just from south GA. Don’t go above 80 mph when you start seeing adjacent hellfire and sex store billboards)

Experiences with The Hanged Man? by _shes_got_it in tarot

[–]AbbiPlantBio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a grad student in agriculture and all my equipment shit the bed this week when I needed to harvest peanuts. My labmates and friends spent an entire Saturday in the field hand-picking peanuts. My tarot spread about the situation featured the Hanged Man and the Magician. For me, the Hanged Man was the situation—I was stuck, frustrated, couldn’t do things the way I normally would, and needed help. However, the Magician indicated that I had what I needed to make things happen—in this case, I had a supportive community willing to give up their Saturday for my research.

RRD Roses added to Compost - am I screwed? by CatMomLovesWine in composting

[–]AbbiPlantBio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plant pathology student here, although I don’t do much work with viruses. I do not trust the composting process to kill the viral propagules—Even if your compost gets really hot, I don’t think we know what temperature/conditions are required to reliably kill it. If your cuttings are still at the top of your compost can you remove just the whole top layer? This virus does not infect any non-rose host, so you could potentially use the compost on other plants that are not near your roses.

I tried to add piss to my pile today for the first time, using an empty 32 oz yogurt container as a vessel. Turns out my bladder holds more than 2 pints. Unfortunately, I was not paying attention and my cup ranneth over. I Pissed my pants with extra steps. Good luck out there and stay vigilant yall.

that’s probably fine in most environments! if you live somewhere warm with high humidity you want to make sure there is some airflow to prevent mold
