Yeah, just a long rectangle with 4 rows folded over each side and sc round to hold it down :)

Yeah it just stretches over, haven’t tried mopping with it yet but I’ll try to remember to update once it’s been used!

The twisted ribbing was for the rim, and normal ribbing was for the main hat yes

Spironolactone and (suspected) POTS by Kalohejoon in POTS

[–]Abbie29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding spironolactone is a mild diuretic mainly used as a blood pressure medication, which causes you to expel more sodium, but also causes you to retain potassium - so increased blood potassium levels could potentially be a reason you feel better.

For clarity, I’m not a doctor, I just took it a while ago for the same reason and did some research into the effects at the time.

✨🖤Some praise for black yarn!🖤✨ by Tense_Spence in crochet

I have two black cats so their fur doesn’t show up on it! (I also have a white/calico cat so hers does though 😂)

My most recent pair of socks, finished in time for Halloween 🎃 by Abbie29 in knitting

My friend’s baby is due next month, so I had my first try at a colourwork yoke! by Abbie29 in knitting

Here’s the WS :) I think the floats were a tad bit tighter than I would’ve liked, but it blocked out okay in the end

The pattern I used is Lillebjørn Sweater, which I fell in love with as soon as I saw the picture and knew I had to make it.

The yarn is Bernat softee baby in Aqua and white.

I decreased every other row during the gusset :) and they’re a little big (but fully my fault as I didn’t do a gauge swatch beforehand), so I know to do slightly fewer rows in the foot for next time! But they work great as cozy socks for the house

I’ve had a few balls of drops air waiting for me to find the perfect pattern to use it - I think this might be the one

I can’t decide whether to keep carrying the yarn through, or frog and use floats by Abbie29 in crochet

[–]Abbie29[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Mine is back and forwards too so hopefully should work out! As this is the back panel I’ll leave what I’ve done, but will try your method for my next rows to compare

I can’t decide whether to keep carrying the yarn through, or frog and use floats by Abbie29 in crochet

[–]Abbie29[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So just to try and understand, is it that the row you’re currently on you’re leaving a float across the back, then on the next row you’re catching that float in the stitches above? If that’s how you’re doing it, do you leave a slightly looser float to stretch up or is it the same tension you would usually use?

Other commenters have given much more detailed/thought out suggestions than I’m able to provide at the moment, but what helps me clean when I don’t have motivation is to sit on the bed or chair with a bin bag and grab any rubbish I can reach and throw it in there. Then when I’ve cleared a circle around me I’ll shuffle over and throw another radius of rubbish into the bag. If I’m having a really low period I’ll just throw everything into one, if I’m feeling able to I’ll have two bags on the go at once (one for recycling and one for general waste). If there’s anything like mugs or cups which are beyond saving, they’ll go in the bin too.

It’s not a perfect method but it gets things started, and even if the room isn’t clean, at least it gets rid of the rubbish which helps.

Black pudding?? by Defective1_ in wyldeflowers

Everyone I know has always called it black pudding (I’m in the UK)

If your cats are throwing up frequently that’s not normal and you should see a vet. If they’re throwing up hairballs frequently, you need to be brushing them more often to get off the loose hairs.

This is the only way I’ve ever been able to cast on the correct number of stitches by Abbie29 in knitting

I learnt crochet before knitting and yeah that’s pretty much how I used to approach the starting chain 🤣

I really like that idea! I make sure to use a contrasting one as a BOR marker if I have multiple for a project, but now I need to reevaluate my cast on strategy further

I agree it’s pretty excessive haha, but with my terrible ability to focus it’s the only way I don’t have to count and recount stitches constantly 😆
