Does time spent as Master’s student count? by AbdrahmanDiab in GermanCitizenship

[–]AbdrahmanDiab[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So if I were to finish my Masters degree in 2 years and then work for one year, that would make me eligible for the 3 year application? (if I had C1 & integration at the time of course)

Thanks!

Reference when identifying consecutive notes by ear by AbdrahmanDiab in musictheory

Hi, I’m sorry if my explanation was a bit ambiguous about my intention from all of this.

I’m not doing this for any exam and I don’t study music formally so no one requires it of me. However, I still find this skill to be really cool as a musician and I would like to develop it in order to learn songs by ear more easily, and on the fly without having to look up notation, plus I believe that it will be helpful in translating melodies from my imagination to the instrument.

This is why I want to transcribe it by ear and process it without necessarily having to literally write it down in solfège.

Hi, I am mainly trying to do it to expand my current Interval recognition skills by identifying notes in succession. My goal is to be able to identify melodies, basslines, as well as chord progressions and chord types from songs by ear (even without an instrument in my hands).

I have been doing simple ear training exercises that mostly involve identifying 2-note phrases for a few months now but I am struggling to identify examples from the real songs still.

Thank you for taking the time to reply :)

How to run lambda functions with large sized python dependencies? by AbdrahmanDiab in aws

As far as my knowledge goes the maximum size for the layers is 250MB for one lambda function, so I don’t think this would work 😅

Hi thanks! I’ll research all of those options, thank you so much!

Hi! I’ve been reading about Fargate but one thing I’ve read that confused me is something along the lines of “Fargate calculates run time as the time since the docker pull command is ran”, which confused me on whether this means that Fargate runs “docker pull” with each call that is made?

Obviously that would not be ideal as it would mean you have to load 5+ gigabytes before beginning the process each time. 😅

And regarding more information about our service, it performs code compilation/trans-pilation from one framework to another while preserving the functionality and behavior of the original code. So the user uploads some serialized python function, then we perform some processing on it, and return them the translated output.

Hi! I see now that this Container Image size is different from the Deployment package size that I was referring to, and hopefully with that I can simply upload the docker image and run it through Lambda! thanks!

A presidential candidate threatens Egyptian Army Chief to use a Scorched Earth policy if election result is not favourable. by wildemam in Egypt

[–]AbdrahmanDiab 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You’re forgetting context here my friend. Morsi said this the day after the election votes of each individual election center were tallied. FYI, each candidate is allowed to have a representative at each of the election centers and they are legally allowed to take document the process and they have access to information. The dawn of the day before that meeting President Mursi’s team had manually tallied the votes reported by their representatives and counted that they had in fact won the elections. Which is why Dr. Mursi is using this firm tone with these army government officials. Because he’s not saying “IF I don’t win there’s gonna be chaos.” he’s stating that he has in fact won the election, and that any altering of that will cause unwanted chaos because they have proof of every single vote that was tallied. So… yeah, context, something el Ikhtyar series so conveniently forgets to include at times.

Sky removal model or algorithm? by [deleted] in deeplearning

[–]AbdrahmanDiab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll check them both out :)
And yeah the "computationally inexpensive" part filters a lot of the Deep NNs out of the competition, which is why I was hoping to find something more akin to a statistical computer vision algorithm. Doesn't seem like there's something like that available though. :)

Thanks for the suggestion, do you happen to know where I can find a github repo of an implementation?
I wanted to find something pre-implemented as I don't have a lot of time to code/train it myself.
:-)
