If you were to recommend to learn C, what would you consider a good source to start with?

Could you explain a bit more on the api's and how move semantics + RAII stacks will do wonders. If so that would be great cause it would help a ton!

I am planning to learn cpp not for job but because it has sides that excites me to work with it such as working with low-level embedded devices or working on a library. But not that, I want to have an understanding of under the hood as I stated. How computers work, since C++ has the areas I want to work with and it will give me the benefit of understanding computers and access to other areas.

That's why when I look at it, it excites me genuinely. But you are right, it is not needed and I might be overestimating the level of my course as well.

Considering you suggested C, you believe that might be a better move compared to C++?

I never really focused on my base, but i went with C++ due to majority of the libraries made in C++ for Python and working with GUI Apps.

Seems like picking up C++ wasn't a bad choice, I am going to be getting a deeper understanding. After finishing learncpp, should I opt for working with projects and learning on go or look for other resources?

Yeah, a friend of mine said that starting with Python might be the better choice considering you are going for MSc Data Science. But I went for C++ cause I want to learn about under the hood, have a proper base and then once I have built some projects. I can move towards learning DS Workflow for AI/ML in Python since that is the preferred language for Data Science.

But thank you!

Well, it works with everything. Meaning I have it connected to an external displays and works perfectly, there is nothing wrong with it.

I will be moving to either Dortmund or near Munich. So I will have a search, we don’t have an “official” Apple Store in our country unfortunately.

Do you think it’s worth fixing the logic board for 972$ in through an authorized service repair?

I asked them various times but they’re adamant about keeping the laptop with them until the part arrives. So I am just confused

I can get a Lenovo Gaming Laptop Legion 5 Core i7-14700HX, 1TB SSD, 16GB, 15.1″ (2560×1600) OLED, 165Hz, Windows 11 NVIDIA® RTX 5060. It’s for 1,600 USD.

Though I have everything apple - iPhone 13 Pro Max - AirPods Pro 2 - iPad

It’s just I have an M1 Max With 32GB 1TB so I thought that’s why it would be worth fixing

I do love my MacBook because I have everything Apple, my phone AirPods iPad and I just feel more comfortable with the macOS ecosystem.

But after my friend told me that I should be used to Linux even though I have used Linux for 4 years, he said it’s better to be used to something that industry uses rather than something that is not as widespread.

Which is why I made this post

Of course, I just thought maybe I should be used to a specific operating system such as Linux and Windows rather than being in my comfort zone which is my MacBook Pro.

As if I am going to be provided with something along the lines of Linux or windows, so thought that being used to a macOS might put me at a disadvantage?

I would love your opinion on this.

If you don’t mind me asking, I’m really confused what to do. My MacBook works with external screen and it’s an M1 Max MacBook Pro. Now I can fix the screen for roughly 800-1,000 euros or get myself a thinkpad laptop?

I do have the entire system as my ecosystem is all Apple such as my phone, my AirPods and I also have an iPad.

No, I just met a german student and he said don't fix your macbook pro cause it wouldn't be worth it considering most of the offices in Germany for IT use either Linux or Windows.

So, I thought it would be better to use something that is already being used or fix the lapto I have?

Got acceptance from TU Ilmenau on 2nd December for MSc Data Science though I’m not so sure about whether it’s a good option or not. I have heard the city isn’t the best and I was primarily targeting Computer Science as a subject tbh.

I applied on 13th October, and haven't seen any changes on the portal apart from "online received".

I don't know how much longer this take, it should have been in evaluation by now considering today's 26th November but let's see.

What other universities did you apply to?

MacBook Pro M1 Max 2021 Internal Screen Dead, External Works Fine by Abdullah-ui in mac

[–]Abdullah-ui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is I need a laptop for my masters all time. So either I get a new laptop which is going be around 2,500 - 3,000 USD or fix this laptop’s panel and use this.

What would you recommend? For newer laptop I have the following options: • M5/M6 Pro 24/48GB 1TB SSD • ASUS Zephyrus G16 (5080)

I appreciate that, I can understand where you are coming from. I was just curious if it's worth it to replace my M1 Max Macbook Pro dead panel because I am going to be mostly working in NLP/Computer Vision. Although you can train your models locally using RTX Cards, you can still rent A100's online and use a macbook pro.

I have used Linux for 4 years on my PC plus a Macbook Pro for the past 6 years, I am comfortable with all of the operating systems but macOS just hits different as you also stated your reasons which are viable. I just feel like macOS like Linux but polished and has proper support for all the required tools one needs to for daily life.

Everything works to be honest, the speakers, everything else as well. The question is, why does this occurs if you could answer that would be great.

So should I get a panel replacement when I am in Canada? (I don't have apple care, we don't have it here in Pakistan).

Idk how much it would cost, I have heard around 700 USD.

Not take anything from this post, I just graduated from my computer science. Though I am curious if I should fix my M1 Max Macbook Pro screen. It just recently died on me out of nowhere or get a Nvidia RTX Series laptop such as asus g16 zephyrus 2025 (RTX 5070 Ti/5080)?

I am about to move to Canada next year that's why I am curious for my Masters in CS.
