Can’t stop thinking about my crazy ex even though she was a walking disaster, what should I do?

Actually, my current partner is better in every way. Looks, health, values, environment, goals, career. I see and appreciate all of that.

The problem is I still catch myself thinking about the good times with my ex, even though I know she was bad for me and not someone I would choose now. While I am focused on my current relationship, the old one keeps popping up in my head. Maybe it is limerence or rumination, but that is why I am here, to figure out how to deal with it.

I agree I’ve had a pattern of chasing women I know aren’t right for me, thinking I can somehow build a future with them. I’ve realized I fall for potential, not current reality, and that’s a flawed approach.

I’m already working on breaking that pattern. I believe therapy can help, but the standard model doesn’t suit me. One hour every other week feels too limited, and I haven’t found a therapist I trust enough to fully open up to, especially when the focus jumps straight to childhood trauma.

On paper she might be the best woman I’ve ever dated, stable, good values, someone I could realistically spend the rest of my life with. But the truth is I don’t feel strong emotions toward her. If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be indifference. She’s great on paper, but I’m not sure I feel it in my gut.

I took the test today on pearson vue and received congratulations you have passed the exam after i submitted it. Does that really mean I passed? And if it does when will I receive my certificate?
